I have read many suggestions on how to get rid of wheel hop, but I need a definite answer. I knew wheel hop was a problem the day I got my car 2 and a half years ago and just recently have been able to put some decent power to the ground. I recently installed an ACT 2600 lb clutch, Street disc, and Streetlite flywheel. While the tranny was out my roommate (who owns a 90 CRX with a B18 swap) recomended I get the Prothane Motor Mount kit instead of putting windo weld in the stock mounts. I have also read tons of wheel hop articles and everyone suggests to get poly motor mounts and most the time totaly eliminated wheel hop, yet these are from 1g GST and TSi owners. I took his suggestion and got the mounts.
After I broke in my clutch I got on the gas to see if I still got wheel hop. First gear accelerated smoothly, but immediatly after shifting hard into 2nd I had horrible wheel hop like I had before the motor mounts. No more than a minute later I heard the most horrible noise I've ever heard from my car, a thrown spider gear. Now I'm forking over around a grand to get a new tranny but I don't want to ever deal with this shit again, I'm only 19 in college and have a tight budget as is. I've heard so many suggestions, from the LSD to all new suspension bushings to new shocks and springs, and I just simply can't experiment with all of this but desperatly need my wheel hop problem solved.
Anyone who has gone through the same problem of wheel hop or a blown diff or knows anyone who has, and has solved the wheel hop problem, PLEASE HELP ME!!! Thanks

heres the problem, beacuse ur shifting so much weight to the rear of the car, your GOING to wheel hop. Im AWD and never delt with wheel hop. Try not to chrip the Wheels while Power Shifting.

Run SLicks. Wider tires. Something to grip with.

all Poly mounts, and Stiffer Springs\Strut, might help it out.

have you looked into Traction bars????? Want it to be a daily Driver?????

There is no "cure" for wheel hop but there are a couple things to reduce it. First LSDs (like a Quaife) help significantly because the power is going to 2 wheels instead of one. Next stiffer mounts help to reduce the engine's movement which in turn reduces wheel hop. Finally, look into a dual-stage boost controller. Set it to something low like 11PSi, launch, then flip the switch and it will go to your high setting (like 15-16 etc). TurboXS makes one. The less power going to the wheels, the less wheel hop. Once you have traction, flip the switch and hold on tight!
