I'm in last stages of finishing my 6-bolt swap, and the engine that I used was out of a '90 Laser, so of course, i got the external oil cooler & tapped oil filter housing. As to be expected though, being that my car's a 2g instead of a 1g, there's no stock place to mount this oil cooler.... and I did use the search button for my questions, but nothing productive came up.

Here's my questions:

1) If you've done this before, where did you mount it? And how?2) Does it matter if this thing is mounted upside down?

I WANT to use this thing as I believe external oil coolers are the way to go... so I don't wanna convert this thing to a water cooled oil cooler. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Different oil cooler but same idea would apply I would imagine. :thumb:

mmm. Setrab!

I just bought the same cooler, fittings and 90's housing. Thats an interesting mounting job.

I may try to mount mine in place of the fog light.

I mounted mine to the opposite side of the stock smic. I'll get a pic soon. Also, when you mount it, you DO NOT want to do it where the two ends are both facing downward. Air gets caught in the cooler and lowers its efficency.

As far as considerations for mounting the cooler, you MUST mount your cooler so that at least one of your ports is "up". This prevents air being trapped in the cooler and hurting it's efficiency. Both ports "up" is great. So is mounting it sideways with one port "up". Both ports down is BAD because of trapped air. (that tidbit courtesy of NABR).

This is the same setup I plan on doing very soon. I need to know what size threads the oil filter housing itself has. If you had a parts list of the -AN pieces you used that would be great! Thanks.
