I'm trying find an easy way to mount my front lip. It is basically bolts to the underside of the front bumper. So I'm trying to get some input from you all on which would be more secure. Before i go driving down the street. ways I thought of were:

basic bolt and nut w/ lock washer- This is ok but you just have to live with knowing there is a nut or bolt head on the underside of the lip (which could also aid in keeping it from scratching i guess)

two sided tape - which i think would come off pretty quick expecially when moving at a good rate of speed not to mention the tape catching alot of salts from the road

rivets - I don't know much about rivets or how they would hold up against the air pulling on the lip

post screws w/ lock washer - probably the best I can think of gives a good flat surface on the bottom of the lip

anyway what do you all think would be best?

If you're going nut and bolt, be prepared to replace them once in a while. If you don't, the heads get worn down and then you can't get them out unless you use a dremel.

I built little braces that I could thread 3 bolts into along with a fender washer. Should spread the load out pretty well once I finally get around to ordering up my front splitter.

You may want to look into some sort of bracing for it as well to keep it from tearing up the front bumper.

1g Aftermarket Lip? Where you get it?

yeah aftermarket i work at a plastics display company and we have alot of 48x96 sheets of acylic..abs...lexan...acrylite plus...and in different colors so I decided to purchase a sheet and cut it to make my rmdsm type lip for my 1g and maybe some clear lexan windows :^)

yeah i was just looking at the home depot front lip (i think it was) and he used like a elongated L bracket i believe i think I'm going to use that or something like it. i think 4 of those or maybe even 3 would be fine right?

Please for the love of god do not bolt friggin garden edging onto your car. If there's anything that looks worse I couldn't begin to think of what it might be.

Oh ya, if this stuff looks good and works well, I'd be willing to paypal you some cash to send me out one and some directions.

LOL no no no garden edging..I used black acrylic for the one I'm test fitting on my car (supposedly is weather resistant) but when I get it on I'll make adjustments to it as needed and do the real one out of black abs i think. Works been kinda crazy but when I do get the test lip mounted up I'll post pics.

Oh good. I thought you were gonna do this.

Mile High Talon

That looks horrible, regardless of its functionality.

Lol. Every time I see that I ask myself WTH they were thinking.

Here are a couple of shots of my front lip. Mind you this is not a track car, so it's only function is to cover a couple of scrapes and bring the whole 'grey' theme to the front of the car.

Quick update on progress. I currently have my front bumper work and i test fitted it on there. 6 of the pre-drilled holes did not line up so TODAY before i leave (can't work on it while on the clock) I'll be recutting and fitting another one on. If everything lines up I should have pictures tomorrow evening (hopefully with the bumper on the car)

Oh, I forgot to add that I just used 3m double sided stick tape =)
