I'm thinking of swapping the motor from my g/f's 91 Eclipse turbo to the 90 Plymouth Laser turbo i have. both fwd 5 spd, im just wondering are there any major differences?

I think the wiring to the computer is different i read somewhere, i think you have to change a few wires around on the connector for the ECU. Is it relatively hard to take the motor out? And the tranny that's in the laser will be staying in that car. Should i take the motor and tranny out and then swap the trannies or should i just leave the tranny in the car then take the motot out. and i hace tken motors out of cars before.

Thanks Mike

The wiring harness is different for the ecu just swap the harnesses while you are at it since there will be no engine in its simple. Also take the engine out with the transmission still on it will save you alot of trouble, and then put the engine back in with the trans already on it. Good luck

well the harness in the ecllipse is no good it all covered in oil and someone hacked it up to much. i could always just find an ecu off ebay or on here.

The coil, tps, cas, ignition control module(not sure of the real name but it is located next to where the coil plugs up and is bolted to the head), and the wiring for the oil pressure sending unit are different between my two dsms (90 & 91). Also you will need to change out the oil pump housings and water plumbing as the 90 model has an external oil cooler and the 91 model's oil is cooled by engine coolant.
