I'm building a 7 bolt block.
Any suggestions on what else is needed?
I have
eagle rods
ross pistons 8.5:1 compression

Any tips on how to avoid crankwalk. I thought i read something about a company making aftermarket dowel pins but i accidently closed the window. Any input on this?

Also for my head I will need to buy new bearing caps/cam caps. Who besides the stealership sells these?

Oh, and also i will need to get an aftermarket clutch fork, i heard that machv.com had them but I did not see any on their site. So if someone can point me in that direction.
Thanks

Crankwalk never totally been solved. The most rational explinations I have heard are poorly manufactured cranks and oil squirters stealing oil from the thrust bearing gallies in the 7 bolt. The best thing to do would be to get some stout main caps, unplug the clutch safty switch, keep her lubed and be careful in the assembly and driving. Other than the dealership try the local junk yard to find the cam caps. And finally TRE sells clutch forks with the pivot ball for $75 http://www.teamrip.com/awd.html . Any other questions let us know. Good luck--Jon

What is the difference between the stout main caps and the stockers? Who sells them btw.
Sorry, I'm just learning and I don't know who sells what yet.
EDIT: Does anyone carry an aftermarket clutch fork or are they all stock?

You mind as well buy a used 2G head since you need caps for the cams, you can probably find a 2g head for ~100 bucks nowadays. Also, crankwalk is a problem with DSMs, but it's not as common as you'd think. The only way to "cure" crankwalk is to go with a 6 bolt shortblock, but then again, 6 bolts crank walk too.

IMO, take your chances. Build it the way you want and use eBay, classifieds, trader, etc. to your advantage. :thumb:

From what I've read, I thought that 6 bolts do not crank walk. Eh, either way I have my 7 bolt block already.
I do also have a 2g head, but the bearing caps were not on the head. They were set aside and from what I know, they develop wear patterns and are different sizes. I don't want to take a chance and mix them up and blow my whole motor.
