Ive done a great deal of searching and have decided on either the

RSR
Apex'i WS
GReddy EVO

Only question I still have is which exhaust has the quietest idle tone? Reason for needing a quiet idle tone is because I live on a court and with the car running for a few minutes because of the TT I get in trouble. Any info is appreciated. Also if anyone has any links to find any of these at decent prices would also be appreciated. thx :dsm: :)

i did research on the same 3 a while back. i went with the RSR. here's what i found out about the 3:
they are all pretty quiet at idle.
i still have the stock downpipe and cat with a rsr catback and you barely notice it at idle. the tone is a bit lower if anything.

rsr and apexi ws-runs over the rear suspension
evo runs under it i believe if you are concerned about scraping.

ws is the cheapest by a good margin. evo and rsr run similar, although i think you can get the evo and ws cheaper now due to the new evo2 and ws2 lines.

you can get the ws (for 2g fwd) for 359 shipped from www.turboimport.com

hope this helps

RS*R is hands down the best exhaust I have ever owned. I have had Tenabe Racing Medallion, Tenabe Power G Medallion, Apexi Dunk, and RS*R. The RS*R is very very quite at idle.

wow thank you guys :) thats perfect! one more quick question. the rsr exahust, do they only make one model? or which model is it that is super quiet? Thanks again :)

I know they make two different kinds now. RS*R sold exhaust in the US and then they left. Now they are back again. My exhaust is from back when they were here the first time.

99% of all 3" exhaust are going to be low in tone at idle. They're basically having to do nothing at the moment. Out of the 3 tho I've heard more good things about RSR's exhaust more than the other two as far as "lower sound levels".

same site i posted above (www.turboimport.com) sells the rsr exmag for 2g fwd for 517 shipped.
that's where i got mine. comes with neckdown to fit stock cat that you can remove if you go with a 3" pipe or high-flow cat. comes with new gaskets and bolts/nuts too.

muffler portion was nicely padded and wrapped, but the huge box it came in was a bit beat up when i got it. when i opened it up to inspect, everything was fine though. probably just handling blunders.

It's really too bad they don't still make the exhaust like they used to. The RS*R on my car is just beautiful. It's polished al the way to where it goes under the rear axles. I wish the tip was smaller but I can live with that.

The one I got for FWD about a month ago was the same. it came in 2 segments. One with the muffler welded to pipe that goes over the rear axle (polished). the remaining part that goes to the cat wasn't.

All these exhaust are the top 3? Oh come on you know Thermal Exhaust are the shiz! ha but yeah in my opinion I think Thermals are the best sounding and have great reputations on DSMS. I think they go for like 500-550 i think AMS sells em.

cardomain canceled my order and said the Apex'i WS are no longer available :( anyone know any other websites that have the exhaust for low to mid $300 shipped for the GST? Thanks :dsm:

You're going to have a lot of trouble finding a World Sport exhaust for the GST/GSX anymore, unless you are willing to wait for a used one to show up on eBay. Apex'i doesn't make them anymore, but most of the online vendors still list it in their inventory. How hard is it to modify your webpage to NOT list an item anymore?

Apex'i is making a new generation of WS exhausts, called World Sport 2. The vendors seem to only have WS2's for the RS/GS cars. I'm currently trying to get one for my TSi AWD from an eBay vendor. He says that they are just coming out with the WS2 for the GST/GSX now, finally.

some of these questions can be easily answered by a quick trip to www.google.com and typing in the manufacturer that you are interested in... then read what they have to say about their product. The WS exhaust was discontinued as the WS2 had a few improvements. There is a description of these changes on their site.

Here's Apexi's USA website.
http://www.apexi-usa.com/exhausts.asp

They don't even mention the new World Series 2 exhaust systems. Their description is still for the old one. Vendors that are carrying the WS2 have the new description, and the only thing that seems to be different is that it brags about being 50-state legal.

The old WS exhaust for the turbo cars was simply the N1 catback piping with a different muffler and piping to that muffler. I have yet to see a picture of the WS2 for the turbo cars, if they truly even exist yet.

So, it's kinda hard to find out what the differences are when the manufacturer and vendors doesn't update their websites, as well as when the vendors don't even know whether a WS2 exists yet for the turbo cars.

I like my dunk.

its like a heatbeat throbbing deep and low, almost v8 like. can't barely hear it inside (I lived in and apartment complex too) but sounds pretty good off idle.

anyway thats my 2c

aren't the WS supposed to be only 2.5 inch piping or am I crazy?

or instead of typing a paragraph you could of listed a few of the differences

instead of asking question after question, you could do your own search. I know you and I are both new, but just take those extra keystrokes and you will probably find your answers faster than a post.

you are obviously not going to do a thing yourself, so here it is for you. please post your questions to these answers. I know they are comming.

1) Interior construction has been fine tuned for even more low to mid-range power

2) 50 state legal World Sport II

3) The oval canister houses a newly designed fully rolled tip

4) Countless magazine dyno tests have proven the WS Exhaust to be one of the best all around exhaust systems on the market

that took me 3 min and 45 seconds to get, only using www.google.com and not going beyond the first page of hits.

now ask your questions. . . OMG

they are on sale at www.turboimport.com for $419 + shipping.

does a cat have to be welded between the Apex'i DP and Catback??? I noticed in the description for the DP that it eliminates the Cat and connects straight to the Cat Back and is for obviously, off road use only....I want to get both but am hoping no welding will be needed to have a Cat for legal reasons.

Yeah, for the non-turbo cars. All the vendors that carry the WS2 right now only have it for the Eclipse RS/GS. Shane916's profile says GST.

The piping for the WS2 for the RS/GS is 60mm (it may widen a little towards the back). The piping for the old WS for the GST is 70mm, widening to 85mm at the muffler.
The piping for the old WS for the GSX is 80mm, widening to 85mm at the muffler.

Divide units in mm by 25.4 to get inches.
