Any air flow restriction will cause power loss. I dont think its a good idea unless air flow is not restricted, then it sounds like a great idea.

No air flow is restricted. The Butterfly valve sits inside a 3 inch Stainless Steel Tube. When the flap is opened the exhaust gas exits via the cut out which reduces the DB put out through the muffler. When the flap is closed the gas flows directly into the muffler.

Oh so it just redirects the air out a different opening, I see. Well now it doesnt sound like a bad idea especially if your trying to keep it as a sleeper. I dont see why not. That dual tip muffler looks pretty cool but I don't mind my muffler. :)

Beat you to it buddy, it's a solid idea and works great, however I have a throttle body off a ford as a cutout shutter. I reversed the spring so the throttle body wants to stay open. I found a vacuum operated cruise control actuator ( opposite of wastegate actuator) and I hooked it up to the throttle body.

So when I'm on the freeway at -15 mercury vacuum the actuator bolts the throttle body closed...when I go wot it opens fully, letting my turbo spool fast.

Much better then that silly worm gear motor with the "press and hold to open/close" switch
