Hi, i just received a panasonic head unit for christmas and i searched and to get it installed they have to bypass the amp of course.
my question is, how much better will it sound if any with this mosfet 50 watt per channel coming out of the new head unit in comparison to the sound of my old stock amplifier??

and now im reading that by using the head unit built in amp it will blow my speakers and not sound good.
If anyone knows anything about this stuff i will much appreciate it

It shouldn't sound bad (unless your stocks are blown) as long as you don't crank the hell out of it. Just keep the bass setting in check that's what will blow the stockers the fastest. As far as putting it in just buy the car harness from wherever and match the colors thats it. Some places have told me you have to rewire the hole car and as we all know thats BS.
I had my stockers on the panasonic 8400u 60wx4 for a few months befor the speakers started to crackle. Like I said just don't crank it up too much. REMEMBER Distortion=Destruction

eh i already got charged $50 instead of $125 for labor at circuit city (i work there) and they say they have to rewire it all so i guess ill let them do it, are you sure its bs? ive heard people on here even say you have to rewire.

so basically this head unit will put out more power than my amp i take it

thanks for your help

No you don't have to rewire the whole thing, but for better sound it is a requirement. But if you are using stock speakers I wouldn't bother.

OH yeh it puts out more power!!! The stock unit is only like 7 watts or some crap. Yes it's total BS that you have to rewire all the speakers and such. I've had my car for years hooked up just like any other car is hooked up and it cost me $8 to to buy the harness, (and yes I have the Infinity system for all who were wondering) That's it!! $50 you're getting rapped and $125?????????? What the hell is that!!!!!!! Trust me get a refund for the install go to the insall bay and get car harness mitsu/dodge 70-7001 and if you want a pocket also get mitsu 98-8999, prices vary.

1-Then pull off trim,
2-take out center console,
3-remove radio,
4-take off the metal brackets that are on the radio(take note on how far the stock unit sticks out from bracket),
5-screw brackets onto new unit (brackets are marked L&R),
6-match the colors on new unit with new wire harness,
7- tape or shrink wrap all connections,
8-plug it in and test,
9-them put everything back together.

All this took me about 20 min but I do this for a living.
Hope this helps.
Your stock wiring can easily handle the 25 watts RMS your headunit will put out. So when you can replace the stock speakers for the better sound. The only time you would need new wires is if your going to amplify the speakers.

alright well i took your advice and i am going to return the wire and the labor ($75 in my pocket) so you say that it is not necessary to rewire with the stock speakers right??

and bypassing the amp is not difficult?>

alright well i was up till about 330 becuase i wanted to do this but i basically took everything apart , did some searching and i cut and spliced all the correct wires from the factory harness to the new head unit's harness (didnt have the adaptor + impatient,, i hope thats ok) and its all ready to go i think? did i do this right??

the only question i have is that i did not bypass the stock amp or whatever i just let it be, now ive heard three things by leaving it with the new head unit
1. the head unit will explode
2. it sounds so much better having both
3. it makes no difference

by leaving it in will i hurt anything?? or if it is completely necessary to bypass it and if anyone knows a quick easy way?? i wanted to make sure before i powered this thing up.

please anyone let me know ASAP and thank you carwizard soooo much for all your help
(oh yea i have a pan 8100u kinda like yours)

now that im up i read that you can just unplug the infinity amp and that will serve as bypassing?

i really dont even mind the factory sound if it downgrades it to that if i dont bypass it, i really wanna get this thing hooked up im gonna do more down the road to my system

the wiring harness plugs into the stock one and matches the headunits wires making it EXTREMLY easy to install. I can do a dsm head unti from box to sound in your car in like 30 mins, thats how easy it is. if you have the wires hooked up in the dash correctly then your fine, granted your dash speakers wont work but the stockers will sound better then before. To hook up the dash youll either need to run wore to them from the new unit or wire them in from the amp and new unit. either way your putting 4 speakers on a 2way setup. Basically all you need to do is hook up the wires there is no need to bypass the stock amp.
