I bought a safc years ago when some guy that owned a DSM speed shop told me to buy it. I hooked it up and took it to him, and he put it on his dyno, and tuned for a/f ratio. (I am new to tuning with a logger and safc myself) for the past couple years, the safc settings have remained the same, even though my car has been modded more and more. after recently reading about tuning fuel trims, i got worried. when he set this thing up, he just automatically set the low throttle setting to -17 across the board without ever testing it or anything. bad idea?
I dont even know whats going on with the hi settings.
for fear of hurting the car (even though its been this way for so long) is there a way to just turn off the safc for now and let the ECU do what it has to do? i heard something about "initialize" does this turn it off, or just reset all the setting or what? i also heard just put everything back to zero across the board, and thats the same as stock. that does not sound right to me, is this true?
I have access to a real nice wide band, would it be a better idea to tune with a pocket logger then tune for good A/F ratios with the wideband?
Random question, if I tuned my fuel trims near perfect, and then raised my fuel pressure, would this effect the trims?
my current set up is a big 16 g, turbo back exhaust, 550s, venom fuel pump, afrp, jrc intercooler, and of course this safc that i fear is doing more harm then good. running about 15psi
I searched, could not really find exactly what I wanted, flame if you feel the need, I thank you for your time.
