i just got my car back from the mechanic and i was told that my driver side ball joint is loose. I drive a 97 eclipse gst and was wondering if the recall was done by the previous owner can i still get it fix for free again. i have to wait till tomorrow before i can call the dealer to see if the recall have been done.

yes you can still get it repaired under the recall. if mitsu gives you problems and absolutely refuses to do it, i hear you can take it to a chrysler dealership and they will do it.

dropped your car from what and how high? was it on a jack and the jack gave in? were the tires on? most likely the ball joints are the way they are because normal wear and tear. unless the recall have yet to be done.

i did a search and it said if i see this sticker thingy that the recall have been done. when i say drop i mean lower the car since i lower my car with tein basic about 2 or so months ago.

sorry for the confusion.

went to the dealer today and told them about my problem and the recall. the recall was perform when the car had around 35000 miles on it. they told me that they will have to inspect it first for 80 bucks when i already told them what the problem is.

they told me since the recall has already been done they wont do it again for free.

also how do i check if the ball joint is loose or bad? i want to see how loose it is and how bad it is.

jack the car enough to get a 2x4 or crow bar under the tire.then pry up and down gently, you will feel if the ball joint is loose or not(sorry i dont know how to explain it better)

okay i decided to try it out and i still dont know how it is suppose to feel. it dont seem loose or nothing when i was driving it since i hear no clunking sounds when turning. so i think im okay, but im gonna call another mitsubishi dealer that has its own showroom since the dealer i went to was actually suzuki and daewoo at first and mitsubishi just joined with them.

I was wondering if i do go on having to fix it how much would this cost?
