Well...if it isn't the spoiled brat running his mouth again  Hey Chris, you shouldn't be on here posting, but instead reading your fsm, haynes, and chiltons trying to figure out how to check that darn oil level :p

As for this post, I think it's done! You've seen the pros and cons , so just make an informed decision according to what it is you're looking for. That's what it should always come down to in the end anyways, what do you want :thumb:

haha yea im gonna dig into those books all weekend LOL

but yea, i think this thread is dead, and i dont know why it was brought back from the grave

Go turbo, its a nice lil kick every time you get on the gas....A ego kick :p But I would go Turbo, after a while you will get the bug to have more whp so you will start to change things new pistons, rings, cam gears, cams, valve's, spring, retainers, P&P head & Intake mani, MP 60mm TB, New rods, Ballanced and Knife edged crank, FMIC, Greddy Type-RS BOV, New fuel mods, New Injectors, Fuel Pump, FPR, Fuel Rail, FMU, Some type of Boost controler, Some type of LSD and B-4 you know it you stop look at youself and relize you are a addict and need help...LOL go turbo. I was boosting 8psi on stock internals my compression was awsome and my boost would creep up to 11 at the top of 3rd gear. I never had a problem and then I rebuilt my whole motor and tranny, Now I run around 13-14 psi at the top of 3rd gear for daily driving. but I have had it up to 18. I do not want to go any higher i am afraid, I put to much damn money into my motor and dont want to #### things up. killed my friends dodge stealth, he took me off the line I beat him in the 1/4 he kicked my ass in the half mile. :thumb: good luck with your car :thumb:

ya, go turbo... even me, the great nitrous crusader, is hanging up the bottle and going with a custom turbo set up OMG it was nothing wrong with the nitrous system itself, did everything it was asked, and didnt hurt my engine. but i need that power all the time, and i need to hear that bov. plus im putting this turbo kit together for a little more then what my nitrous kit cost, cuz im making everything myself: manifold, intercooler piping, downpipe, ect... so yeah im hoping that its in and done with by the end of april, but it will probably be in sooner, just setting a realistic goal. then after thats done, its on to figure out how to check the oil level ;)

id sell your car and get a turbo car... its just too much of a hassle throwing a turbo in at low boost... you're just gonna want to go faster, and before you know it you have a blown up engine...

N/T's make great parts runners... they also start, run, and look good...

well my compression is 200-210-200-200, so i knew how to do that. i only installed the nitrous, intake, header, udp, gauges, s-afc, shortshifter, and shifter bushings myself, the oil level is the next on my list of "Challenging things i need to learn how to do" i dont think your a retarD at all. im just telling you what happens in most situations, and not relying all my information on what happened to one person. nitrous gets a bad rap because of people like you who go around telling everyone there engines gonna blow or your gonna fry your piston rings, or your going to blow your intake welds from it because thats what The Fast and The Furious said.

sorry if i came off as an asshole, but as you can see above, i get a little aggitated when people spread misinformation about nitrous. im not sure why your friend had to spray in higher gears, unless he was running a very big shot with slicks, then i could see why. and im 18, although im told that i act 11 or 12 all the time, so it was a good guess. :p

Nitrous gets a bad rap because people like to bolt it on and don't add enough fuel, or use too big of a shot and blow their motor... this does happen, it's not hearsay or a myth, and it's actually quite common... As far as burning rings... this also does happen... though blowing a intake weld is more likely going to happen from a turbo than fron nitrous... unless you backfire wicked bad... Also - nitrous is not flammable by itself... it's nitrogen and oxygen... no fuel there...

However, there's nothing wrong with using nitrous whenever you want, whatever gear you're in... but you shouldn't use it unless you're over 3/4 throttle, most people reccomend only using it at WOT, which really is the best time to use it... all it is is an oxidizer... puts more oxygen into the combustion process... you need to add fuel accordingly or your current fuel setup will burn hot enough to burn holes in things like pistons... The reason they don't use pure oxygen is... well, if you've ever learned to use an oxy-acetylene torch, you'll get the idea...

Now a turbo uses the wasted exhaust gases to spin a turbine, which is attached to a compressor... the compressor pressurizes the air that's going into the intake, and the more PSI, the more air molecules there are forced into the same amount of space, which in turn requires more fuel to burn without putting holes in things....

Do we see a theme here? More fuel = more power... but you have to have the O2 to burn the fuel, and that's where the nitrous and turbo come in. With proper supporting modifications, either is a good choice... without proper supporting mods, both will blow up your motor... Nitrous will use less gas, as you don't need to be putting more fuel in every time you step on the throttle, just when you squeeze the bottle, wheras a turbo will be dumping more fuel every time you hit boost... so if you're looking to get better gas milage, and go fast at the track, proper tuning and nitrous is the better option in this case, however, if you want more daily driver power, and don't mind suffering a little on fuel economy, then tuning with a turbo would be a great choice.

What kind of budget do you have though? A good nitrous kit will cost you less than 1/3 of what a turbo will probably set you back, even if you're trying to put the kit together yourself...

i couldnt find it right now, but there is a specific rule that says not to respond with this.

perhaps, but before you know it you have a build engine ready to throw down some mean numbers

haha my thoughts exactly

this only happens if the kit is installed wrong, or if its a dry kit, cuz the injectors cant handle the extra duty.

no no. its the more fuel you BURN = more power... lets not confuse people here.

well the rest of you post was just common knowledge

Wait a second, I have beat a couple 1G GSX's and Talons from a 10mph roll and even beat one in the 1/2 mile from a stand still I had a great launch with no tire spin...so not all of them are just parts go getters, and as long as you are smart and upgrade some internals before you crank up the boost your motor should be fine :thumb:

IF ya go turbo get nice LSD

which unfortunately happens more often than it should, but you are correct

LOL, yea, the only reason I even responded to the manifold thing was all the threads on SMIM's and splitting seams because of crappy welds and high boost, etc...

Yea, guess I shoulda clarified, if you flood the thing it's going to have trouble burning it all...

As far as common knowledge... yes and no... a lot of people just don't get it... that's why we hear so many help I blew up my motor stories... though, it *should* be common knowledge :thumb:

I still affirm, with the right supporting mods and tuning, both a wet/dry nitrous system OR a turbo system is a great power adder... but they're purpose built... you really can't say one's better than the other, because they're better for different applications.

likewise but my car is pretty much stock and tuned...

i dont see how people can just dive into things without doing there research. we really shouldnt see any "i blew my motor" stories on here unless they purposely did it, or it was a freak mechanical failure. if people did there research they would know what is safe and what isnt.

as far as which is better, im gonna have to say turbo is better, unless its a track only car.

You would think... but still there's all too many people that think they can just dump a big ass turbo or a 150 shot without doing anything else to their motors...

I agree that a turbo is better, but that's just my personal opinion... fact is, they have totally different uses, NOS is for a extra boost of power, wheras a turbo is more for sustained power increses... and it's my personal opinion that nitrous is for people that can't build a motor and tune it... but again, that's all personal opinion, and truth be told, they both have their purposes, and they are both good at what they do... but unless I have 600+whp on my motor already, and am having trouble shaving that extra half second off my time, you won't catch me putting nitrous on my cars... it's too hard on motors, and I don't need 600whp, I'll be perfectly happy with 350 or so... (for now...)

explain this one to me? first you say that ^^, then you say you wouldnt put nitrous on unless you had over 6000whp... seems like you would have to know how to build an engine and tune it to have 600whp.

I'd personally go with Nitrous Express if I were to put in NITROUS.
NOS != nitrous

nitrous express is the best, but if your a noob to the nitrous world, and want to install it yourself, Zex is the way to go.

How about Jet Fuel..Lets fill a Nitrous Bottle with that and do a Direct Port Injection......... :p :D  :thumb: Sorry I felt like being a ass clown... If you know what you are doing and install a Nitrous kit the right way, and use it the right way. Nitrous is no hardder then a Turbo on motor's I do not know why people think a little sprey and you are going to have to rebuild. My dad has used Nitrous on many cars. Some of them cars motor's are 20 years old. And I bet that motor is still as strong as alot of our fellow members motor's. But my dad does have a edge over us....like the car i am talking about is not a dsm :D

No smart ass replies telling owners of N/T DSMs to "sell it and buy a turbo DSM". Yes, we all know that it may require more time, effort, and money to make a Non-Turbo DSM reach the same potential as a Factory Turbo DSM. Most people are aware of this and have weighed that option already and chose to take on the project anyway. If you are not going to contribute to the discussion in a positive way, move on and say nothing.

agreed. i was talking to some guys in my physics class cuz one has a wrx and another who "has"(no proof of this) a 3000GT VR-4. when i told them i was running a 75 shot of nitrous, the VR-4 guy proceeded to tell me i needed to get an alluminum block. i told him that i didnt and my engine could handle the 75 shot with relative ease, but apparently i was wrong  the kid really made my head hurt by the end of the class, telling the wrx guy an exhaust would give him 35 whp... or the turbo kit for the evo he is going to buy will give him 600whp... no tuning involved, slap it on and BAM! 600whp LOL

hahaha Chris...was that physics class or special ed? :p

everyone vote gsgoinfast for wiseman...oh wait, that whining little brat already got it LOL :shhh:
