Monster Tach Install Help

I been trying to install my NOPI Stewaurt Warner Monster Tach with Shift light. I connected the wire to the pinout given on vfaqs layout and my rpm signal does not match my stock guages rpms. The Rpms no matter how much i rev my engine wont rise greater than like 4000 RPM on the monster tach. They seem to be misreading. Is there another way to get an RPM signal other than on the ECU pinouts. If not what could be wrongwith me tach?

The tach is most likely calibrated for an 8 cylinder vehicle, every tach I've ever seen had an adjustment inside the tach. It should be in the instructions.

I opened up the back of my tach and i dont have that lil dip switch board to calibrate my tach.

I found another site that told me how to calibrate it but its just not working...maybe it could be my wiring?

Does it matter how i wire it other than the the green to the rpm signal. Right now i have both grounds together on the same point on the chasis. Both the iginition wire and the dash lighting on the same hot lead in the car. Do i need to really go and put on of the grounds to the chasis then the other to the negative in the battery then have both of the pos leads to different hot leads in the car? The tach turns on no problem but i just cant seem to get it calibrated to match my RPMs.

....i think you might be right. I'm at the point where i am going to get rid of it. Only reason i wanted to keep it and try and make it workwas because it was expensive.
