im having trouble deciding if i want to mold the side skirts + rear bumper or not...

would i have to mold the door caps as well if i did this or would those be fine unmolded?

vote and put your reasons why you would or wouldnt

molding looks so much better but as he said if it cracks ur in trouble. I think its worth it

Which material would you mold with? How much body-filler experience do you have? My friend, Chris, has been molding his tail-lights and gate for a year, constantly refilling cracks because he put too much on in the beginning and is stuck with a primer queen until he pulls the filler and starts from scratch.

I found a really good trick that works perfect for filing small gaps and makes the kit look OEM.....Once it is test fit, mark any small gaps with a marker. Pull off the piece of the kit. Mask off the areas where the gaps are (on the car). Then take some fiberglass reinforced bondo and goop it onto the kit where the gaps are. Reinstall the piece, and it should smoosh out the bondo where the gaps were. Wipe most of the excess bondo off immediately then let it cure. Once cured, you can smooth everything out by sanding and finish off with some glazing putty....then finish sand.

With this method, you still have a very small seam but it flows into the car perfectly. It will be a better fit than any other factory molding and look great once painted. I prefer this method to molding everthing onto the car, since over time, the fiberglass WILL crack away from the body metal even if it is a trailer queen.

DON'T DO IT!!!

I've seen molded skirts done very properly with little bondo and lots of rivets, and they STILL crack. Its inevitable unless its a show car...
