I've been reading and searching for the past two nights, but I haven't found what i've been looking for. My 95 has a modular setup and I wanted to know what components are needed to convert? Since my modular bolts to my flexpate, how does the non-mod work?

Thanks ahead of time!

Thanks for the quick reply... yeah I saw that, but it says convert your non-module to module?? do they mean the other way around?

I would search neons.org to find some info on what parts to get. Thoes guys have been switching over for awhile now.

I dont understand why you would want to do this but you would need the flywheel from a 95 Neon. The bolts for the flywheel will be needed as well. Then buy your clutch for a 95 neon with a non-mod setup.

I think Spec makes a non-mod setup and I am sure Southbend clutch will make you one. Most others require you to go modular.

You understand that, with a non-modular setup, installing the trans will be more of a chore to get the trans input shaft lined up with the splines of the clutch and everytime you replace the clutch you will have to pay a machine shop to resurface the flywheel, right?

Yeah I realize that. I don't want to convert, well not after our pm's, you made me realize it's not a smart choice. I still wanted to know what was required in order for the conversion. It should have kicked in as to why there are not directions on this site on how to do it, but it didn't. I also didn't realize there are quite a few options for modular clutches, although expensive, for our vehicles.
Thanks again for all the replies everyone.

This is a pretty informative thread, this individual wanted to do the same thing basically.

Personally I would rather pay $80 for resurfacing and 150 for a clutch kit and not have to spend 400-500+ every time I wanted to change my clutch. (Prices are referring to and OEM spec. replacement.) But then again, I dont mind taking out my motor for the ease of clutch instillation. LOL

Thanks WMD! Thats exactly what I was looking for!

Is there any interest in a write up, with pics on this? I have switched mine to non mod (just because I went to my back-up clutch) and will be switching it back probably in the spring. If there is any interest I'll do the write up when I swap out.

I search on neons.org and came up with 250 INCH pounds or about 21 ft/lbs.
Hmm, I'm thinking that's the number for the pressure plate to the flywheel.

Oddly , in Haynes they don't spec the flex plate to crank shaft bolts. They just list it as not spec'ed . But in the 7 bolt, they list them at 98 ft/lbs. I basically loctite them up and crank them on with air. Not super technical, but I've never stripped one out and I've never had one loosen up.

Sorry, I read the post wrong. I did some more searching and came up with 80 ft/lbs with some locktite...

Like I told marc in PM I pretty much did that 80-90ftlbs with lock tight and she's on there:rocks: I did do about 20 for the other bolts that connect the PP to flywheel though. Now I do the horizontal shimmy to get the block back in the car.
