Hey guys,

Im really looking at buying a 2g Talon tsi awd. i want to fix one up make it look real good which i got down. I dont want all show no go... what are some basic upgrades to give your DSM a meaner sound and better performance. I got the basics like air intake, and exhaust and simple things like that. little upgrades to run your DSM better and longer! :) thanks!

Youll need to do you tune up first. Make sure the timing components are new and replaced. Then the oil change. Change the plugs and wires. Once you do the tune up to make sure its reliable then you can consider mods. Like you said already, exhaust and air intake are 2 cheap mods. You need to think what your goal is for the car. Once you learn what every part does and used for then you can mod. Get rid of that crappy 2g bov and get a 1g bov. Then since it has the t25, you can upgrade to a 14b or small 16g. But that will require a bit of work for your first time. You can get a boost controller but you cant turn it up till you know the in and outs. In order to do that youll need more fuel. Then when you start modding like that, tuning is need and a bunch of other parts that just ad up. Youll need a wideband gauge no matter what. Its a good thing to have.

a 1G BOV is better than a 2G? thats weird, but ok! if you take apart a turbo and clean it, change the hardware and gaskets and what not, will it run cleaner? is there a special way to do it? when i do the oil change, should i also replace sparkplugs and wires to be on the safe side? i have also heard that Talon clutches aren't very reliable? is this true and what is a good reliable clutch to replace it with if so?

Also, where is a good place to get reliable DSM parts? any websites? certain shops?

Bwylie.... Check the supporting vendors here... they have what you need for a fair price.
As far as what plugs, wires, oil to run... that has been covered several times, and you will find that info at your fingertips.

As far as the turbo goes, find out what one you have. If it is oil soked on the inside, it may need more than cleaned.

We understand that you are excited about your DSM and can not wait to start spinning wrenches.

Follow the upgrade path posted above, but start with the manitance the car needs, tune up, fluids and go from there.

Gaskets, belts, hoses first. I would run high boost with a bunch of leaking fluid or other mechanical issues. You'll definetely get the sound you want from an aftermarket exhaust and it's also good for some hp and tq increases.
