I want to put in a mls gasket before i put the turbo in, ive already looked over my chilton guide and it seems pretty complicated, what should I watch out for, and where can I get a good torque wrench to make sure everything is nice and tight. also should I overtighten any of the bolts or stock specs?

First of all, consider the amount of good you could do your engine while replacing the HG. You can replace the tbelt and pullies, all of the upper gaskets, and get your lower mani and TB ported/bored.

You will need:
-anaerobic sealant (~$15, for a couple of the cam retainers)
-torque wrench (~$50, 1/2" drive at Autozone)
-MLS HG from (~$50 from the dealer)

You might want to get:
-upper gasket set (~$100 from the dealer, but a smart investment)
-ARP head studs (~$130 from Summit, smart investment)
-ported/gasket matched lower intake manifold (~$100 from Fierro-Racing.net)
-bored TB (~$75 from Fierro-Racing.net)
-AFX UDP ($140, if you don't have it already)
-PB Blaster (good for breaking loose old, crusty bolts)

It's a messy ordeal, but nothing you can't handle. Especially if you've ever done any other real work on the engine. If you've done your VC before, I'm sure you could do this in a weekend. Trick is, you need to find a good machine shop to mill the head flat for you while you've got it off. Otherwise, it's going to leak on you when you're done.

If you hit up http://az2gnt.net, I have the FSM hosted under the FAQ page linked at the bottom. Goes into all the details you will ever need to know to get started.

Good luck.

When I blew my engine, the guy put some white silicone sealant between the valve cover and the head to stop the oil from leaking, anyone ever hear of this?

You can use RTV with the gasket. Still better to use a new gasket with cleaned mating surfaces, though.

light weight balanced crank pulley. notice the bold :thumb:

30% underdrive...less parasitic drag from accessories, a/c, p/s, etc :thumb:
