It's was time to change oil again today so I went to the garage to see how much oil I have in stock. I have a 6-pack of synthetic Mobil 1 5W/30, 2 quarts of the same 5W/30, 1.5 quarts of Mobil 1 10W/30 synthetic and 2 quarts of Valvoline 5W/30 synthetic.
I would like to get rid of the 10W/30 and just use Mobil 1 5W/30 on both my cars (98 GSX, Y2K C5) but in the meantime, I have alot of remainders that I gotta use. Any side effects on mixing different weights of oils (5W/30 + 10W/30) or adding different brands? They are all synthetics so I dont see anything bad.
I went to Walmart and bought a 5 qt. jug of Mobil1 5W/30 ($20 bucks) and used that on the GSX since 3 quarts of 10W/30 will cost me $15 + tax.
