My buddy came to me saying that he just installed new plug wires on his GST, but there was a problem. At first I thought he maybe didnt hook one up, but when he got to my house I noticed they were mixed up in the wrong order. When the car was running it sounded like an old lawnmower. It was backfiring, misfiring, and bogging. In the end I simply fixed the problem for him and his car ran as usual.

What I want to know is;

Did he cause any more complications or permanant damage for driving it to me like that.... about probably a mile drive. I want to know if there are things I should check out before anything serious happens.

Thanks

nope, no damage should be done.

im assuming you wrote down 4123 for him in on a piece of paper and stuck it in his glove box for future reference.

Friend came back today saying its backfiring under boost. Popped the hood and noticed that in a rush and also at night I accidentally wired the firing order 4132... WTF . Some help I am. But again same question. Car was boosted and driven for about 40 miles this time like that. Is his motor going to be ok or did it suffer any damage? Thanks again for the replies ahead of time! :thumb:

Or if you didn't write it down for him get a digital camera and show us a picture of his new tatoo that reads 4123.

Also might want to point him to www.vfaq.com

:)
Thanks
John

IF its a 2g you might simply point on the front of the coil packs where it clearly is inscribed with the firing order.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but does I thought it isn't supposed to matter if your order is 4-1-3-2 or 4-1-2-3. Mine was setup as 4-1-3-2, upon switching to 4-1-2-3 it seems my engine starts up with one less crank now.
