I am buying a 90 eagle talon tonight and the radio and whatever else was there is missing. Does anyone have a picture of the center of the dash with the radio removed but the parts still there so i know what i need to get replaced? I would like to put a new radio in this car asap since my commute to work is 45 minutes one way. so if anyone can help me out that would be awesome. I searched but could not find anything about this.

hmm you should upload what your talking about. but here's this for now (note this is not where the ecu is suppose to go)

You are missing the brackets that screw onto the sides of the head unit. Those brackets screw into the console via 4 holes; two each, to the left and right of the head unit face plate. Motozachl's photo shows his (hacked-up) trim ring installed. This is covering the holes. There are three different trim rings that I have: One for a single-DIN head unit, with the pocket molded in, or maybe screwed on; one for a double-DIN, and one for two single-DINs mounted together. The brackets, however, are the same, regardless of your arrangement. And, any decent aftermarket head unit will have pre-tapped holes in the appropriate locations. Let me go outside and snap some images...

You'll also want an adapter harness to plug into the factory harness. They're worth the $10-20, but if you order from Crutchfield, they'll throw it in for free. Also, expect your 20 year old factory speakers to be worthless. The foam surrounds are likely to have turned to dust.

so my question is where do i get the brackets then? or would crutchfield have them if i got a radio from them. Whoever took the radio cut the wiring harness so i will have to wire it up if i can get a schematic.

Is your factory plug missing? You can see part of it in my photo of a radio-less dash. There are two, one smaller than the other. If they (the factory plugs) have been cut-off, you can get some from a junk-yard, or wire right in to the factory wires. I'd restore the factory plugs if they're missing.

Why have you given us no photos, you bum!

The brackets: Try a mitsu dealer, or DSM Graveyard, or one of their competetors. You could get the plugs there, too. The set in my pics is extra, but I'd prefer to keep them. If you absolutely can't find a pair, PM me. If you run a classified "wanted" add, you will get replies. Crutchfield would not have them.

yes mine is cut off. as for the pictures i dont have one that is a good close up of that spot but i can take one tomorrow. I will check into dsmgraveyard or ask a guy down the road from me he has alot of extra parts.

DSMG should definately have it. Try to get as much extra wire with the plugs as possible; there isn't much room to work in there. Hopefully, all the wire-colors should match, and you won't need a diagram. I'm thinking those wire colors should be the same for all models from 90 thru 94.

Mitsu parts dept still carries these trim doors and radio brackets. Thing you have to watch out for is the mounting holes - are they all warbled out due to larger mounting screws used...

On the actual harness and plug assembly: if you can head out to a yard and find a DSM that still has the harness and plug assembly, snip that harness and plug assembly off then splice that harness back onto the cut ends matching the wire color codes .. and best with solder and shrink tube to cover the splices.

Then, with that completed, goto a radio store and get the adaptive harness assembly to attach your aftermarket radio to the stock wiring system.
