Williamsburg,
I am going to buy a 1g fwd for 600.The down fall is it misfires and needs a turbo. Now what all could cause a misefire? Thanks in advance

hmmmmmm, Misfire? Blown Turbo. If this car runs with a bad turbo, but VERY LITTLE power, and feals like crap. you might be thinking its caused by a misfire. Wrong.

Since turbo motors have such low compression we need that turbo to just idle right.

BEFORE you buy the car, Get a compression Test and Leak Down test on the motor. If it doesnt pass, the trans might be going along with it. If ur ready to throw down a couple more grand, then go ahead. but if the motor is bad, Give em 300

ABout the compression test and the leak down test how do I go about doing those?the guy sold the turbo but he said it runs better when you unplug the MAs sensor

k, Theres a hand compression tester out there. A long hose that has a dial on it, and theres a fitting that goes in the spark plug hole.

Heres one

here

Quick Google search, there probly cheeper a parts store.

This is what you do. See the end opposite of the dial? That goes in the spark plug hole, Put that in there, and Crank the car a couple times. and Note were the neddle jumps to, That gives you the compression numbers.

DO IT ON ALL 4.

Leak down test.

heres a tool, and How To here

For a first gen 2.0L turbo motor, the standard compression (brand new compression) is 164PSi, but the service limit (like lowest tolerable) is 121PSi. Also, the difference between cylinders can't be more then 14PSi. For example if you have 145 139 124 146 then its bad, cause of the 124. Just go to autozone and pick up a compression tester, they are like $20-30. If all cylinders are all above 140 (but less then 14psi difference) then take it for sure, the engine is in pretty good shape. A 14B (stock) turbo can be had for pretty cheap. Good luck!
