I've been searching through the forums ( as i frequnetly do) and was searching and came upon a bunch of stand alone threads that were basically all "Haltech vs. AEM" and 80% or more of peole think the AEM is "easier to tune" because it's plug-n-play.
Well, let me set this straight..the AEM is easier to INSTALL, HARDER TO TUNE..
the Haltech is harder to install but way easier to tune.
The AEM is filled with abunch of pretty graphics and extra un-needed tables in mundane enviroments, most of which the normal everyday "new tuner" cannot understand or even tell what changes were made when he dragged the pretty little windows graph line up or down.. there's just too much for me to list, thisis why i dont promote them. I like to teach teh customer about their unit and how to program it, and if you're a newb you can really screw up an AEM FAST!!!. And although i agree it's a decent ECU it's too limited when you get a plug-n-tug system. And not only limited by being proprietary for each application, but the use of injector driver boxes, resistoprs and all this other crap is stuff that 95% OF OTHER STAND ALONES DON'T NEED ALL THIS CRAP TO RUN...aem DOES (OOOPs caps lock on sorry)
When they were first launched we had 5 of them all "plug-n-play" and even though i've been to haltech seminars,Accells seminars and studies stand alones for YEARS... WE came up with a saying at our shop. "you can plug-n-play all day, but dont counton driving your car"

Anyway.. If anyone has a haltech or is considering one and needs help, i'm a dealer for thme and also customer support to help take some load off of thehaltech USA office (which is now a new one and no longer alamo motorsports)
Anyway, just got disturbed reading up on mis-info.. if anyone has questions, a rhetort or just something explained..post up or PM me if you are a newb and can't post here
