I just bought a 1999 Eclipse GS-T that was completely bone stock. I just ordered a few parts and thought I would run it by some of you to see what you think. First off I dont want to get to crazy so here are the parts. HID kit both high and low beam, short shifter and new round shift knob, Greddy hard pipe kit with BOV flange, and Greddy type RS BOV I WILL STILL RECIRC!!! Ive also ordered a short ram air intake kit. Yesterday i cut off the stock muffler and welded up an HKS and thats about it, any ideas or anything im doing wrong? advice would be appreciated, cause im SONEW to this.

Do all your maintinence before anything else. If you are going for performance, you should look into a full exhaust system rather than just changing out your muffler. Get a boost gauge.

You shouldn't put HID's in the stock reflector housings because you'll blind oncoming traffic. The only proper way to do it on a DSM is to retrofit projectors.

Did all maintenance today beside spark plugs that will be tomorrow. I do have a question about my intake they have one for after market bov and stock, because i ordered a greddy i would do that aftermarket, what would be the difference? and also for the 2nd vacuum line on the aftermarket bov wuuld i just tap into a constand vacuum line or??? also since im only boosting stock psi i would just keep the lightest spring? also im thinking about not doing a front mount just keeping the original one, i want to keep it as stock looking as possible.

Make sure you clean your side mount intercooler it may have oil build up inside! If your wondering why this is it's because there is a hose that runs from the valve cover to the intake! U can get a catch can which then u won't have oil build up in your intake pipes do not use a breather or u'll be cleaning up oil! All the maitenance is important and there is a place where your bov vacuum line goes and it's from the intake manifold u can look at my pictures fr reference

I would take it to a shop and ask them how new the timing belt is! Because it may have been changed if u can still see numbers it most likely isn't too old check for cracks in the belt aswell

i havent looked at the timing belt yet, there is only 77,280 on the car should i check it out? and how much would that be to have it done?

Do it youself it will cost 300 and afew hours of work. Have a shop do it roughtly 900 or more. If you have no clue how do not attempt timing the car.

When you say that you "did all the maintinence" what do you mean exactly? A timing belt job should be done at 60,000, so you're overdue for that. That includes timing belt, all it's pulleys, the balance shaft belt, all it's pulleys, and water pump.

If you don't have any knowledge of the timing belt being changed, then now would be a good time to do it. Just get an OEM belt. You'll likely want to have someone else install it as it's not an easy job for someone new.

$300 doing it yourself that belt better come gold plated

I talked to my mechanic and he said there's no reason to change the pulleys?

when i do timing belts to cars i spin the pulles if they make noise i replace them

Make sure you do all your maintenance first like Wire,Plugs,Timing Belt,Balance Shaft Belt,Water Pump,Fuel Filter,Oil,Oil Filter ect. Also definitely get a boost gauge! How many miles does the car have? After all that mod away! :hellyeah: - Ryann :talon:

Plus PCV valve, thermostat, accessory belts, air filter, O2 sensors if needed, fix any leaks, check the turbo for shaft play, look over your brakes, suspension stuff. Hows your clutch? What about the clutch slave and master cylinders? Do you have a CEL? The idea is to have the car working as close to perfect in every aspect as you're ever going to get it before you even think about throwing any go fast parts on it.
