mini supercharger from a/c compressor?

as i was making my boost leak tester and checking it with the air hose for durability i got this thought about taking off my a/c compressor and putting in it's place an air hose pump LOL. if i did that and ran a hose to say a bored out version of the nipple on the intake pipe that the bcs hose goes to would this be an upgrade for as long as the pump managed to last? i'll check up on the rpm ranges of the air compressor pump, but has this ever been tried? if the VW people are making supercharged turbocharged engines im down to test this out.

oh yea the air temp down there might be a tad warm though, would have to rig up a cai down there for it for sure as well.
 
I doubt this would work at all. Here is why. To get 14 psi boost to a 2.0L, you have to force 4.0L of air into the engine every revolution. So thinking about this you would have to have a 2.0L compressor turning twice as fast as the engine, 1.0L 4x, 0.5L would have to spin 8x as fast as the engine to maintain 14psi. That would equal 64,000rpm if your redline was 8000. I dont think any compressor that would fit in our engine compartment is even 0.5L displacement. If it was, I seriously doubt it would hold together spinning faster than a turbine engine for a helocopter.
 
that makes sense, but im mainly wondering about just adding a little extra boost. maybe have it on a 1:1 pulley, would it end up evening out LOL? or could it possibly add a couple horses?
 
Not a bad idea in theory 9except for the pumping volume part0 but why would you want to add something else that could go wrong on our cars :)
 
You'd be better off buying yourself a boost controller and knocking up the boost a bit. Superchargers have built in gear reduction and spin at many times the engine RPM to make any kind of boost. An "air pump" in place of the PS pump would do nothing at best. A twincharged set-up may be technologically impressive but it's in no way efficient or cost effective.
