Hey guys, in need of a new a/c compressor i do believe. The heater works but will not make cold air. I'm pretty positive this would be a bad a/c compressor, if not gimme some ideas. I did a quote from Autozone and they said $330 but if i wanted the warranty it would take another 70 bucks in parts to validate the warranty. Anyone know where i could get one alot cheaper? I saw one on Mitsugraveyard but its for 1g...would that fit in a 97 gst?

Also, trying to get my windshield wiper fluid working...still cant find where it comes out in the engine bay.

Help is much Apprectiated :D

Did you replace the refrigerant? For me it only cost $12 for the actual refrigerant but I do not know how much labor would be.
Mine blew moist, room tep. air when my refrigerant was old. And my car only being one year older than yours, id say it needs to be replaced.

Recharging your a/c will be something a licensend person will have to do. Environmental reasons.

heh good point. The summer get to about 98 degrees here so thats pretty uncomfortable though. Its not that im cheap I'm just not the greatest financially and didn't wanna spend money on something I could do. ABout how much has it cost others for them to do it?

ok thanks i think ill delve into a recharge before a crazy expensive compressor.

so for my other problem...I don't get windshield wiper fluid to flow. There was a hole in the bottom of the tank under the car(2g) where i suppose a rubber stopper went so if u wanted u could drain it. so i filled that up hoping that would fix the flow problem. Nope still cant get any flow to the front of the car. Is there a motor for this i gotta get? maybe its the tubing itself...but i cant see any leaks anywhere and theres no spots in the garage.

Can you here the pump working?
The idot who had my car before me put the little one way valves right by the sprayers under the hood ( mine were blue) on backwards. So there was no way the fluid could come out.
people do the darndest things ROFL

Uh i can't hear it personally since to make them "shoot"(if they worked) i have to sit in ther car and when the "shooter" is engaged the wipers automatically wipe. I suppose i could get a friend over to listen for the pump. Where is it located and what sorta sound does it make?

well i guess i can only say wooooooooooooo ROFL
try unhooking the line which goes to the tee (or y shaped) which distributes the fluid and see if it sprays out the hose.
And as for the location, i dont have a 1g but it should be near the base of the reservoir. follow the line form the tee and you will find it.

^^ya fuses should be the first things you check. oh and also if its even plugged in.

Yea, I unhooked the "T" in the engine compartment and none flows out. Its a 2g not 1g  . Alright so I'll go check the fuses tomorrow since right now there's just too much homework to be done! Thanks guys :)

After my compessor locked up i got one at autozone. It was not the right one. The difference in the two was the one on the 2G turbo models did not have a removable manifold, and the ones that auto part stores are getting for these cars are made to use with a manifold off the old compesssor. The manager at autozone called the company that makes these aftermaket compessors. They told him that they were not at this point in time making the compessor i was needing. (dealer item only) If someone knows where to get these thing at for a good price let me know.

most likely your a/c compressor works but it will only turn on if there is refrigerant in the system. buy a home recharge kit with the dyed refrigerant and see if that works. the refrigerant with dye in it will help you spot leaks in the system.

Have you had somebody check the AC system. There's alot more than just the compressor than can cause it to stop cooling. The condensors get holed by road crud since they sit unprotected infront of the radiator and leak all the refrigerant out. Once it leaks the pressure switch keeps the compressor from engaging.

The pump for the washers is on the bottom of the tank. It looks like the tank is in the trunk inside the spare on the 2G turbo cars and bolted to the firewall on the N/T cars.

Im also looking for a new compresor before the summer hits here in arizona 120 Degrees. Before last summer i went to get a recharge of air coolant or what ever its called. They checked for leaks and nothing so i have the system drained and recharged. Well that worked for a couple of weeks ice cold. And then it would blow hot air every so often and you could feel the compressor kick in and cold air again. Finally when i turned on the a/c i could hear the whining/rubbing noise like to metals rubbing and then no cold air at all. I think its my compressor right?
