im curious as to what kind of life expectancy you can expect out of the 2.0 liter?

the car i am buying has 135,000 miles...but i think that most of the new mods have been added in teh last 10,000...i know nothing about imports...i have been a chevy 350 guy since i was 17...and 135000 to a 350 would mean a complete rebuild

Depends on past maintainance habits. People have made incredible amounts of power on stock internals with over 150K on the clock with no problems.

If the previous owners changed the oil on a regular basis and has done the timing belt, balance shaft belts, water pump, and all filters on a regular basis or when they are due, then the chances are the car has been taken care of maintainance wise. Also depends on whether the car has seen an easy road to 130K+ miles, or if its been through hell getting to 130K+.

It all boils down to the maintainance in this game.

When I bought my N/A Talon, the odo had 260,000 miles on it. Granted the motor wasn't long for this world at that (pulled a few months later), but it still ran.
