Miami DSM Meet

Ok so chrispy and i had a talk about the DSM meets and from now we will be hosting the meets as we always had at Tropical Park and the meet will start like always at 12:00pm.
We feel if we keep the meet at Tropical we will have better turnouts and not discourage the other miami dsm'ers to make such a drive like to broward.

Next meet will be held at Tropical Park at 12:00pm on February 28.

This will give time to all those DSM that are down to get fixed and for others to get a heads up on this as well.

After talking with everyone in our meet that we had today (which turned out great today by the way), we agreed on holding our next meet on the 28th of February of next year to start things off. Today's meet was great, but so many DSM's were down and unable to make it. Still, very nice turn out.

As discussed, we will be having our meet in Tropical Park. But different then our usual meets that we have. Our previous meets are good, but have usually just consisted of standing around talking for 3-5 hours while people in between ride out to get food and ride back, and eventually just all go home after we all get tired of standing around.

This meet, I want to make things a bit different. It was mentioned before in previous meets, but was never done. This time I want to make it official. This meet is going to have an actual BBQ event for DSMers. We have already spoken with some of the members about it and have a lot of the stuff we need to get this going already. So this next month we will make this happen.

This meet will have Canopy Tent(s), chairs, and food. If you can donate anything to bring to the meet, it will be very much appreciated. This will also be the best place to sell any DSM related goodies that you have.

My head is killing me right now, so I'll post more info later, but for now what is clear that we will be having the meet on Feb 28th, which falls on a Sunday at 12PM. The earlier you get there, the better. Depending on what we want, we might even do a nice cruise somewhere (beach, ect). It's up to you guys.

Agreed. February 28 it is for the next meet at Tropical Park.

I also strongly agree with you and i am down with the bbq and i will be chipping in with bringing drinks and cups and others can chip in with other stuff that will make the meet/bbq good and fun.

I think i am more thrilled about next year's meet knowing more DSM will be able to come and this time frame will give people a chance to fix up their cars some more as well as give a heads up in anticipation to those who want to come to plan ahead and ask for the day off if they work, so it's a win-win situation.

Although I do like this idea of planning out more meets to get everyone together again, having the meet at Tropic Park from now on is a bad idea in my honest opinion. Supposedly the Miami people don't like coming that "far" north for the meet at Markham Park, and I guess having it at Tropic Park would allow more of the Miami crew to show up (since that's where the biggest DSM scene is). Let's be honest...it's what, a 25-30 minute drive for the Miami DSMer's to get to Markham?

Just some food for thought: For me and the few DSMers in my area to drive to Markham Park about an hour drive on average, depending on traffic. It took an hour to get there today, and traffic wasn't heavy, as well as it being a 45-50 minute drive for the other DSMers that are in my area. Now that's just to get to Markham Park. Making the meet even more south means that we now have to drive an hour and a half (give or take) to meet up with the Miami crew, who now have to, pretty much, pull out of their driveway to be at Tropic Park.

I don't see the harm in everyone meeting each other half way. Not to say we want the meet at Markham Park ALL THE TIME, but maybe switch off? I see where you guys are coming from, that's just my 2psi.

I feel for you and you make total sense Brian and see where you are coming from, but i think we are hurting our own attendance with the miami guys telling them to come up, knowing that the majority of them can't or won't make the drive we do.

I mean yes i understand it's fair for the both of us to meet half way but if we keep it at our original spot we know that the miami meets can get just as big with miami attendees alltogether not including broward dsm'ers.

There is lots of potential for the miami dsm spot and i somewhat think the drive up there is not worth it on my opinion for the turnouts, if they were much much bigger than i would have a different point of view on the drive up, but as it is, i think i will stick and agree to the normal tropical park.

No hard feelings or anything, you are very cool, it's not about you nor the other broward dsm'ers,
it's in general taking into thought our other fellow miami dsm'ers who negate to make the drive, so to not lose attendees we strongly feel it would be best for us to keep hosting at tropical.

ok well if it is from now on at tropical park than brian and i will just chill on the days of the meet b/c there is no way i'm driving down there. i understand moving it to make it easier for the miami scene but tropical park is a hell of a hike and a lot of wasted gas in my opinion. i talked to some of the miami kids today and they understood where i was coming from and we agreed on a neutral location. i can't remember where it is but it's right on sheridan i think right off of 95. i don't think a 20 min drive would kill the miami people.

well to be honest i wouldn't know if it will work out. i talked to a couple guys and i told them that they have to start getting on the forum so that it's not just you me and brian talking back and forth. so unless they now decide to start talking i don't think anything will happen. but who knows?

I think is a good Idea tat we have it at Tropical Park due to one reason no Miami DSMer is bringin up. We got to broward at around 12:30pm to only see Miami DSMers parked there. I understand is a long drive but totally worth it if is gonna be a big Meet. Drivin doesnt really bother me b/c anyways am gonna waste my gas in horin fast civics wanna be. But if we do have it once moar at Broward which we should (next year) I am hopin to see Miami DSMs gettin out numbered by broward DSMs. Tats my .02, feel to respond in any way.... kthxbai

Quick question, is E85 available down there?

Im going down there in 2 weeks to find an apartment, hopefully i can find a place where i can keep 2 cars (got the dsm and a daily).

Looking forward to being down there and cruising in dsm....#### this cold weather!

Anyway I am getting a 98 TSi Awd talon, and its lacking power but runs GREAT. If we get it fixed, I will look into a drive.

I live at coral way and there are many house and apartments around here for good price when you come down you can check around here its a great place tho im looking forward to meet more dsmers around here for now its me and 3 of my friends gst we lacking dsm's around here man its sad ...

Yes i do go to sunoco on thursdays and fridays, wednesdays i don't go anymore but i heard it gets good. I also used to go to the curve but cops notice us there too easy so i chill at sunoco and i also used to go to mecixo too.
I've never seen your dsm, did you recently get it ?

ye man the curve aint safe anymore like the maximum we could be there its 20-30 min before the cops get there but sonoco its fine we making that gas station rich man they be selling gas and food hah and i dont know i never seen you around anyways i restored my car turbo throwing white smoke and i just bought a 20g but im about to do some fuel and internal mods , when you go to sunoco tell me ..

Awesome can't wait for the next meet. I have a feeling it'll be a great turnout as this now makes it easier for the miami dsm'ers to travel to thus bringing in a bigger crowd.
Also i'm sure those who were down last meet will have their rides fixed by the time the next meet comes around.
