hey all, i was wondering what types of Meth kits you guys are running on your 2G 6-bolt setups. I have a 97 GSX @ 31 psi, (turned it down to 22 because currently on 93 pump) But im looking to have setting up a water/meth injection system because im sure 31 psi is unsafe for 93 pump gas. Here are some specs on the car, let me know if you think i can benifit from a water/ meth setup.

-6-bolt swap
-HKS 272's
-Speed Density setup (Omni 4-bar)
-JE pistons/ rings
-Eagle forged steel H-beam rods
-Crank knife edge grind, polished, and balanced at 10k
-Machined head
-ARP studs
-Balance shaft eliminator kit
-9.1 comp ratio
-HKS ssqv
-big FMIC
-FP green @31 psi
-FP exhaust mani
-Alum welded intake mani
-Copper headgasket
-Tial wastegate
-3'' downpipe

*motor currently has 2,300 miles on it since back from the machine shop, and im about to switch from dino to synth oil (mobile one synth)

Thats what i can think of at the top of my head, if you have any questions about my setup just ask. But im wondering what you 2G 6-bolt guys are running for meth kits, where can i get them? Do you think my setup would benifit from it? pros, cons? i have been told that this setup could produce some good power upwards in the 600+ range running 31 psi on meth, just looking for some input! :thumb:
 
I saw speed density, but what tuning program are you using? Do you know how much knock you're getting at 31 psi? Why are you running 31psi but are just guessing that its ''too much''? I would say with 9.0:1 comp ratio and just 93 with no meth you are gonna be seeing knock. Just looking at what info you gave.

i was getting some knock at 31 psi on 93, so i turned the boost down to 22 psi, no knock, but the motor is built for more power, thats why i was at 31, Im tuning with DSMlink v3. If i do setup meth, i want to get it dyno tuned at 31 psi, im not sure how to tune with meth, its all very new to me, the meth setups. other friends of mine that have subies and evos have been telling me to look into the kits because with that high of a boost and comp ratio on pump gas could not turn out very well, so i decided to make a post here on the forums for more input from people who own DSMs
 
Im running a pieced together kit. Bought from several vendors. Devils Own check valve, 250psi pump, and do3 nozzles(4). Bought a 5 gal methanol container from a business friend. And the rest of the fittings and distribution block from Mcmastercar. Running direct port in the intake mani and activating via relay through ecmlink.

YES

If you don't have E85 around or it's not an option and plan to run any amount of timing to make use of the extra boost and have it actualy make more power:thumb:

Awesome, thatnks for the reply. I was looking at the DO kits, there are a few there, is there any one there that you would use for something thats trying to reach 550-600 whp? (DVC 30-stage 2) (stage 1 universal)
 
Just get the universal kit and dutch the pressure switch. Since you have v3 you can control the activation parameters for when the pump turns on.

Cool, ill do that! Also, can i install both nozzles directly on my intake mani? i was thinking behind the mani (side that faces firewall) so the nozzles would be spraying right into the ports, is this an ok thing to do? my intake mani is an aftermarket all alum mani.

Also, the car is not dyno tuned... should i get it dyno tuned how it is currently set up (motor built and SD) or should i install the meth kit and have it all tuned at once? because i just recently set up SD, and havnt tuned it much
 
I agree with what has been said. Get a kit and use ecmlink to activate the pump. Most guys I see are running a single or dual nozzle in the tb elbow. I haven't seen many running in the intake mani. That option would be up to you. Tb elbow with generate more of a cooling effect, as direct injection will aid more like an octane booster. Also I you shop around and piece it together you could possibly save some money.


If you do them in the intake. I would run 4 nozzles, one in each nozzle about 2-3 inches from the head. And dial the car in at a lower boost than you plan to run. Get it tuned correctly then start tuning the meth in up to you desired boost level.

Ah, i see. hmm.. im not sure where i should mount the nozzles then
 
If I were you I would do direct injection in the manifold. Run 4 do3/do4 nozzles. You will probably benefit more from the octane boost then cooling effect.

Thats what i was thinking, just put each nozzle aimed to spray right at each intake port
 
First know what you're going to run, methanol, water, or a mixture. Go on devils owns site and ask them about direct port vs tb injection. There are many more spraying before the tb that are getting more than enough cooling.
