Ok guys im planing on painting my calipers over the break and was looking at blue but I found this paint (http://www.duplicolor.com/products/metalcast.html) that is a metallooking blue that will match the centercap of my wheels. I was wondering if you think this will work or will it have to be hightemp engine paint to stay on there any amount of time. Or maybe if i get a hightemp engine paint clear coat to go over it. I really think this woulud make my calipers original if I could get the paint to stay on. thanks in advance

Nobody have any idea? It says on the page that it is high temp too because you can use it on engine blocks but I havent seen nebody on here that has used it on caliper or other hot engine parts. Please post pictures if you have. thanks

I used it on my calipers on my sentra:

I like it. Theres a lot of brake dust covering it up, but other than that they look really nice. I'm planning on painting them black though.

I painted my valve cover with Metalcast red last time I had my head off. Turned out nice. But I had to put a high temp silver paint underneath (home radiator paint). Metalcast colors are very translucent and need a bright base underneath to make them look good. Same with calipers. Here is a pic of the finished product. The silver you see on the spark plug cover is the basecoat that is underneath the red. Over a years time it turned a little orange from heat on the edges, but not very bad at all. Seems to be a good product.

Oh yea I forgot to mention that you need to buy the metalcast base coat as well. I used it to paint my valve cover as well, on my sentra too that is.

Yes, It will work. I've used the red for my valvecover and uicp, plus misc engine bay parts. Now I just did it all over in blue. You need to buy the silver first, If you do not put down the base, And just spray the regular paint. It will look like shit. I tried it first with the red, And it came out an ugly dark maroon.

Thanks guys the valve covers and calipers look great All i was wondered about was if it would flake off on the brakes but if it does oh well ill just get them powdercoated for free. Im heading out to walmart to pic them up maybe ill do a write up on it when I do it over Thanksgiving break

Yea, in order to get any good finish/color, I STRONGLY reccomend using the metalcast base coat. Once thats on, spray really light coats of the paint on. It has a tendancy to drip if you get it on too thick.
