Heya guys, I was cleaning the old headgasket off my block the other day with one of those brown cookies for aluminum, and I didnt cover any of the holes in the block. Will the metal do any damage to the engine? What can I do to flush it out?

depends on which holes it went into.
coolant = could cause issues with your water pump
oil = could cause issues with your oil pump

without knowing the size of the chunks or the quantity that was put into the motor I would consider flushing the block's coolant by removing the radiator hoses, remove the thermostat and get the garden hose. Then just go to town.

As far as oil flushing goes, change the oil / filter. Run it for a day then do it again.

This is taking a cautious approach, but better safe than sorry.

That's it? You forgot to mention how those shaving could work their way into the bearings and cause some major problems.

Change the oil/filter right away - before starting the car up again and circulating all of those little shavings around. Drive it around for a day or two and change the oil/filter again. Do this once again after about another 500 miles.

Yea it can definately cause problems w/ your water pump/ oil pump. That can be super deadly on bearings. Is the block out of the car?

No if it was, this would be so much easier, just the head is off, I was planning this to be a 2 hour affair today to get it running again, but I guess not. Like the granules arent big at all, mostly dust-like shit, but that is still detrimental I know, and I know that onlydoing an oil change after 30 mins of it running wont take care of all of it.

Ima gonna put new oil in it after I assemble it, leave the old filter, let it idle for 20 mins, get a new filter and new oil, then leave that and since Im not going to be driving it right now, Ill change it again next weekend, with a new filter.
