megan racing vs X brand strut bars

Basically what I need to know is do the benefits of the megan set outweigh the costs.....

Thanks in advance.

They're all the same, and do the same thing: little to nothing.

Completely bogus in my experience. On my '97 GSX with otherwise stock components and terrible tires, the strut bar helped a huge amount to reduce understeer and help me hold speed through high-speedturns. When complementing them with some good tires, the story only got better.

I could see the argument that a modified/stiffened vehicle would benefit less, but the DSM flexes like a gymnast in stock form. Paying $50 (or less, really) for a strut bar is a great investment, if you ask me.

Well it's actually 3 bars, front upper, rear upper, and rear lower for 55 bucks ............

people who claim better turning experience it only in their head. its like people that put intercooler pipes on their cars and say how much faster it is.

seems like a great idea and concept, but in real life, they really dont do shit.

It seems like every post I read from you is about the same; you bashing this or that with NO evidence to back up your claims. If you're right, you're right. If you're wrong(which most people think you are from what I've read), than you're wrong but you never put up a real argument. Do you expect all us to just bow down and believe you?

Why not offer some numbers or even some logic to your claims? SOMETHING to back up your ramblings? :thumb:

I have tried to get a decent technical answer from him also and have yet to see it. He will however tell you that Bushur said that hard pipes are worthless so I guess that is his argument.

If you think about what they are doing it really shouldnt matter. You could probably just make one for a cheap price also. I would take a bet than the more expensive ones use a more exotic material and better hardware and that is why they are more expensive.

the lower rear tie bar is just a waste of metal and only adds weight, I used one before and on stock suspension or aftermarket it didnt help AT ALL.

Ic pipes(upper) add horsepower, lower ic pipes dont add power but add throttle response. Dont outright lie to people.....

Just to note, I bought and installed the strut bars, and I did notice a definite increase in rigidity, and turn in quickness. Not even slight. To those who say these bars do crap doesn't know their @^%$ from his *%^. LOL, there was a definite sharpness.

But it is not all glorified from these bars, because of the extra stiffness I found that my steering inputs have to become smoother because there is less room to foul up, ie. the new stiffness means less room for forgiveness. We will see how it works out over the next few months.

I have to agree that they do make a difference.... I have only installed a front bar.. but I can tell a difference in the way the car reacts to a sharp hard corner... I have yet to get it to understeer, and it holds very well. .

I just bought a megan front bar... I like it because it seems to be very high quality, and it also seems to help the car's handling under hard cornering.

I have to agree that the strut bars are a worthwile upgrade. In January I threw on a set of KYB's, first without the bars and then added the bars a few days later. The rear upper bar in my opinion is where you'll feel the biggest difference. Like others have said, the sharpness of cornering is improved and the car just feels like it lays flatter through turns. I got mine from summit for $45 or $50. Do it.......yeah....Do it. ;)

Yeah, flatter, i would have to agree. I thought it was just my imagination that it was flatter, but if you are feeling it too, then maybe I am not crazy :p Werd again to the strut bars....

:New update: OMFG!!!

Last night I pulled off my rear strut bar to install the plastic pieces over it. (the panels you have to remove on the sides after i cut holes in them). In the course of reinstalling the bar I noticed some thing I hadn't before noticed. Basically the way the threads work, if you spin the bar one way (while the end pieces are mounted to the towers0 you can preload the strut bar. And I preloaded the back brace to the point that the brackets on top of the towers were just starting to bend, and WOWY!!!! This car feels so freaking solid in the corners now it is not even funny how. It is like stupid how much better this car feels.

I do all my handling testing on my local freeway embankments at around 2 O clock when no one is around, and before my strut bars I was going through the banks at abou 78-80 mph (feeling like the car was very close to the edge with minimul tire squeel) last night i ripped through the same embankments at about 85 through the apex and about 90 through the bottom with absolutely zero squealing from the tires!!!! I was like OMG!!!

I ussually take my girl with me cause she likes go through the turns, even she was like OMFG the car feels so much better. MY PASSENGER NOTICED THE DIFFERENCE IN HANDLING HERE PEOPLE!!!! She said at 85 she was less nervous cause the car wasn't rolling near as much and that it felt like it actually had more in it!!! She said that the guys talking bad about the bars have obviously never been in a car with them LOL. She says the darndest things some timesLOL

Alright I am done with ranting about these bars, best 50 bucks ive ever spent on a car mod, period. I will hope to get my front bar dialed in tomarrow.........

it won't fit without a custom exhaust, as the stocker runs right through where that bar is supposed to go. It bolts on to the out side of the lower control arms in the rear suspension, just not on a gsx.....

but if the meagn rear lower bars doersnt fit how does the one on their gonna work when i put my 3" on is the bar bigger or somen??(megan one)
