I searched around on this but I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for.
After reading, I read some good and some bad on these springs but I wanted a more specific answer.

So, I'm looking at the $120 Megan Racing 2" lowering springs.

Are they good for the money they are? I'm aware they're cheap but I'm on a budget haha.

And, do they swap out for the stock springs exactly? No modifications?
And will they fit with a 215/50/r17 tire?

Thanks.

I use the 900$ set of megan coilovers, i love them, not sure what ones your refuring too. But from what i hear and felt from my megans(though they are more pricy) they are amazing and lots of people track on them.

I had a friend who was running them an his 2g TSi AWD, they worked well but make the car a bit to low. But if your careful you should be okay with the scraping and all. I am thinking of getting them myself seeing as i can't afford coilovers yet haha.

I use them they where $100 when I got em rides is as anyother lowering spring my camber from stock went to -3 in the back. But they got nice low stance and I scrape like a mutha. But other wise they are awsome and I love them can't beat the price. Look at my pics in my profile you will see how it sit's on my gst.

I have them on my 91, however, I had them on the kyb g2 which are in other words 2g struts and are awesome! Ride height isn't terribly low, but isn't to high! I'll post picture with them on my car when I get home, however do recommend a camber kit with them. That is where I messed up.

well sorry about the double picture post. dont understand why it double posted the pictures LOL

I have a set on my 2gb bodied gs with kyb gr2's. Nice ride quality & I haven't have wheel fitement issues with the 235-45-17's, 225-40-17's that I used to run or the 225-40-18's that I run now. You may want to trim the rear bump stops as my biggest issue is bottoming out in the rear on big bumps. Oh, and if you don't already have one, get a low profile floor jack and say goodbye to the pristine underside of your front bumper... it will scrape on everything. God help you if you have a lip.

It might be a little late but if you're running the stock Kyb Gr2s then I'd suggest changing those out as well. They won't last long as is but especially after you drop 2". I bought the Tokico kit that came with 1.75" drop springs and the tokico "blues" (struts) that are made to handle the drop. I'd also suggest rolling your rear fenders because there is a corner that sticks out on the inside that is more toward the rear of the inner fender and my tire caught on that and is now missing a small chunk of rubber. Just some suggestions.

Stock GR-2s or aftermarket ones? I thought 1Gs came with Excel-Gs stock. I just wouldn't suggest lowering springs for a stock strut setup that's 17 years old.

Aftermarket KYB GR-2
I already know the GR-2's are not designed for a lowered car.
My 1g might see 100 miles this summer, I don't pull it out much.
So I'm not really worried about them lasting for ever and swapping suspension is easy.
As far as the springs go they seem fine.
The paint did flake off pretty quick though.
