i have read threads already on these and some good some bad. for about a month i will be using stock struts (i know its not the greatest but lets see). will i need chamber kits? and i thinking of getting the illuminas with them or maybe the KYB AGX. anyone use either setup? stiffness? or kinda smooth. i mostly like the drop look of it. the eibach pro kits are a little to high for my liking and the sportsline are to low for a DD. so i think the the mean racings will do just great. so how you all like them?

correction. the megans are lower than the sportslines ha my bad. and i dont think i will be going with them for they are to low. may just go with the sportslines instead or the prokit

Hi

I currently have megan racing installed on my 93.They are nice, but a bit too bouncy on stock shocks in the front. So i recommend just to get agx or tokico yellow for the front.yellows are a bit expensive though.
Also the sportlines and stuff are just way too soft. Its like you are riding a jellowed car if you keep to the stock shocks. I dont use a camber kit,i dont think the drop was that aggressive, but i have a 1G.
Dont notice anything on my tire wear either

i know the megan racing give a 2inch drop for a 2g. thats low! but i like the look. but dont know if that is good a DD. know what i mean. beacuse people are always saying that their sportlines are to low and those are only 1.7 drop. these are even lower.

The Megan springs are awesome if your intent is to destroy your shocks. I went through two sets of shocks in one year with them. If you hit any big bumps you can instantly know the shocks are now gone, especially the rears. I would not recommend them. plus they rusted to hell in less than a year. Stay away.

I have the Megans on my car with Tokico HPs and they're not bad. I don't really think they are too low, I've never once scraped my bumper with them installed on my car, I'm extremely cautious about it though. I don't drive my car in the winter, but I daily it in the summer months. My sister has the Tokico Illumina strut/spring kit on her tsi and I along with most other people prefer the ride to my car over hers.

I have the megans on my car with stock struts. I don't like them. The car sits nice with the 2" and 2.25" drops (i believe thats what it is on a 1g) but they're bouncy as hell. Plus, the first time I ordered them from Megan directly they set me the right rears but the fronts were for a 2g. They wouldn't exchange them so I had to buy another entire set. Megan's customer service blows to say the least. They've been on for 3 and a half years and have held up (granted they only have 10k miles on them) but I would stay away from them. If I were you I would simply save up for a full coilover set up or go with the Ground Control coilover sleeves with KYB AGX adjustables. That's a decent budget friendly combo. I believe there is a guy in the classifieds right now with a set of Ground Control sleeves for $150.

Lowering springs shouldn't be used with stock struts really in any case. The stock struts are designed for the stock ride height, and compressing them with a 2" drop can net you some scary incidents as these cars are getting quite old. Ever blown a strut before? It's pretty interesting. Not only that but you won't hold an alignment so you'll need to get that down with camber kits all around and a set of bushings would help immencely. Just my 2 cents...

once again i changed. i thinking i going with tanabe. 1.5 front and 1.3 back. lower than tein and prokit and still look good and ride good right? any comments on the tanabe springs?

Most of your standard struts are going to blow with aggressive springs.. They're always compressed and can never fully extend.
[You can even read the warnings from KYB (our OEM strut supplier) that they place ON the AGX's/GR2's etc.. stating not to use with them springs.]

OR.. you could save yourself some money and time and do a GC/Shock cartridge mod or get some cheap coilovers and never have to worry or replace :)

I dont think coilovers and cheap should be used in the same sentence, LOL.

If you buy cheap coilovers the car will ride horrible.
Stick with springs if your on a tight budget, Decent coilovers have a heft price tag.

Like I said in my PM i sent ya.... I have the Tanabe springs and the ride is pretty decent.

yeah tanabe are winning me over right now. been reading reviews.
*tein s-tech: not low enough
*pro-kit:not low enough
*sportsline:to low
*megan: to low blow struts
*tenzo r: never heard of and apparently no one has them on dsm so umm no
*h&r: to expensive
*TANABE: middle height of all the above springs and for only 140 cant go wrong.

if any other springs in mind tell me but tanabe are winning right now :applause:

Just curious, where are you finding these springs for that price? Lowest I was able to find was 170 plus shipping. I was planning on getting some megans for my Gst in a month or so, but since Ive seen all this negative feedback I need to start looking for another spring.
