2G Lowering with megan racing springs

Well first off, how do i get the strut assembly off? I worked on it for 3 hours and still didnt have any luck. I was planning on putting Megan Racing lowering springs on it but ive come to the conclusion that i may just cut my damn springs ("Shops" around here want $500-$700 to put on lowering springs) I really just want the car to stop looking like it has a fuking lift kit on it... Detailed help would be appreciated since i can do it on my 2000 540i, but when it comes to a little car i cant..
