Just noticed one more thing, how is this suppose to flow well on our (mitsu) turbos when they are just round opposed to where the stock flange is all bell shaped?

Looks like a really well constructed piece. Unfortunately I won't buy it till they have one flanged to match the Bullseye turbine housing. It's a really popular housing these days with AGP Turbo using them and many others, it might pay off for Megan to make it.

I actually know a guy thats working on getting some made that have the bullseye housing. Should be a pretty good deal considering a lot of us need them.

Here's a pic of the prototype:

That's the ns fab guy, right? I emailed him a while ago and he didn't respond, thought he quit doing that.

Anyways, I like the quality of the megan better, but I'll grab an ns fab one if megan doesn't step up. I've had an ns fab one before it got stolen, it was a decent piece, just some aspects are less than perfect (like dings in the flange surface in your pic, not ported as nice).

Oh yeah, that piece sucks, it's horrible build quality and expensive as hell. My buddy is actually getting them reproduced from a quality manufacturer in large quanities, so they are giving him a good deal. I believe it will be made from ss304, including the flanges and mounting hardware whereas most are mild steel flanges and cheap mounting hardware. He's also making one identical to Megan Racing/SSautochrome but with a flange that acutally matches the Mitsubishi turbine flange...

Anyway, that does look like quality construction. Lets hope they didn't do a little extra work on thier display model and that all of them look that nice.

Are you gonna post on the board when these are available? I'm really interested. Or PM me if you remember at the time.

that cutout in the wastgate hole is for the actual wastegate. Having that extra clearance in there assures that the wastegate will open fully. On a completely roud outlet, it is possible the flapper will hit the o2 housing and only open partially, increasing problems. Not sure on the fitment of the new o2 housings, but if they havent been tested yet, there is a possibility it could have clearance issues.

Yeah there are a couple of points that they need to make sure they get right if they want to sell any of these. Since their main competitor on this piece will be ssautochorme piece, they need to not have any of the problems that the ss piece does. a) make sure that it will bolt directly to the mitsu turbine housing without any enlargement needed in the holes. b) make sure that the o2 sensor will screw in all the way, with out modification. c) ensure that the flanges are flat (at least the housing side). d) one thing I would like to see is for them to weld the downpipe bolts into the housing. Those are just my thoughts having previously owned an ssautochrome piece.

I got the housing last weekend, but I've been a little busy. Gonna install it this weekend to check fitment. I mentioned the bell shaped wastegate hole vs. the round shape, they're gonna change it. The prototype O2 dump housing should have the correct shape.

Good news! I just got an email from Megan, the recirculated O2 housing is complete, and we're gonna test fit it on Friday. It's 2.5", with I believe a 1.75" wastegate diameter but not 100% sure. Here are some pics of the exact piece:
if the price is right, this is exactly what ive been looking for for months. thats good stuff. does megan have a website i can check for updates?

meganracing.com but it's not on there site yet I just checked

304 is perfectly fine for post turbo, the only thing bad about using mild flanges is most companies don't use the right filler between the stainless and mild steel. If they want to do this right they should start with a evo3 flange, then enlarge the wastegate inlet to match a 2g o2 housing gasket. After enlarging the wastegate inlet the best tubing size to fit this is 2" I believe, but 1.75" will still suffice.

does any one have a clip of what an external dump sounds like? All the ones I found are out dated and they cant be found. trying to determine which one to buy.

You can run an external wastegate off the manifold. The Megan downpipe will bolt right up to the stock O2, or the Megan O2, or pretty much any O2 housing, although using the evo III O2 will require you to re weld the flange like any downpipe, unless you want to bend the flex section. Here's a video of an open dump. It was posted on DSMTuners a while ago, and I re uploaded it. Thanks to whoever's video it is, and let me know if you want me to remove it for whatever reason. And of course when I get the Megan O2 prototype installed, I'll take a vid or 3. http://youtube.com/watch?v=JONHpyy7v_M

If someone could teach me how to post the videos I have saved on my computer that I have downloaded in the past, I would be more than happy to present them to you. There are 3 of them but I believe the best one is of a 95-96 6bolt gs-t

Just posting an update on the O2 housing. I was finally able to install the prototype recirculated unit, as I needed to get a hold of some gaskets (they will include gaskets, etc when they sell them). It fit perfect to the Megan downpipe, it should fit any downpipe that's made for the stock O2 housing, or O2 housings that are angled like stock (it may fit downpipes designed to fit the evo housing like RRE's, but I'm not sure). I also don't know as of yet if it fits the stock downpipe, but I would assume that anyone buying an aftermarket O2 housing would have the sense to get a larger downpipe as well.

The exhaust is slightly louder, especially at WOT, but the biggest difference by far was how much the wastegate passage is improved over stock (the production one will be even larger). Since I have a 3" downpipe and 3" catback with no cat, with the stock O2 housing the _minimum_ boost I could run was ~14 psi, that's with hooking the wastegate directly to the boost source. I left it like this, and tried it out with the Megan O2 housing. It barely hits 10 psi now, even less in other gears. I was really amazed. This is a GOOD thing. Remember, you can always raise the boost with a boost controller. The problem is getting enough air around the turbine and through the wastegate to properly control boost. Now I have more range in my boost setting, and better control of the boost...and the production one should be even better. I know this is probably normal with any aftermarket O2 housing, but I've never had anything but stock so I'm just telling it how it is. I reconneced my boost controller and was back up to 15 psi again and it holds well. The O2 sensor fit fine too. I sent my contact at M-R a pretty in-depth email with all your recommendations to improve it. :dsm:

Is the production date sceduled for around the same time the Cat back releases? Great short write up on the O2 housing.

Thanks,
Josh

i think directly connected to the boost source I hit 18 psi, and with my mbc set as low as possible I hit 20 and 21-22 in higher gears. even if I creep to 14 with this, Ill be ESTATIC
