I ordered a megan DP maybe, 4 months ago, and finally got to try to fit it on my car yesterday. I also purchased a dumped 02 housing from punishment-- the only reason I got a new DP is because my previous one became a complete hack job at the flange and was custom built for my borla exhaust. So as I went to line everything up to make sure it would fit, I held it against my o2 housing and I guess the angle of the flange is too steep, so the DP hits the underbody of the car and wont bolt up to the o2. The old DP still works fine, so i dont think its an o2 issue...

Anyone else face this?

Megan downpipes are known for fitment issues. Mine barely (c hair) clears the transfer case.

Wow thats a shame because this appeared to be a very nice piece for the price. I even did research before I purchased it and everyone seemed to like theirs... I guess its back to the lab to re-re-fab the original :toobad:

Does it have a flex section, if not weld one into it to fix the clearance issue.

It's actually the flex section causing the fitment issue w/ my manifod, turbo and o2 setup. The megan flex section (at least for the 1g) is rather stiff. I also have a brand new punishment dp and it's fitment was even worse. The punishment flex section was a little weak IMO.

My complete megan racing exhaust system fits great, it may just be a combo of where your manifold sits if it isnt stock.

From what I've read throughout the forums, there were at least two different versions of the Megan downpipe. The original was mocked up for use with an Evo III o2 housing, which has a different flange angle than a 1 or 2g DSM stock o2 housing. I initially had some fitment issues when I switched from my Evo III housing to a PR housing, but in the end I got it to fit with some work.

Yea, def has a flex section... it looks so nice with its shiny finish, its going to be a shame that I may have to cut it!! Adding the additional piping to drop it lower sounds like the only option, so I may try to toy with what I have (the old one) so that I may be able to sell the Megan in the end. Well see though, my build should be done by July :)

I kjnow this doesnt help the subject, but it is another option. The Pacesetter 3" DP fits perfect on mine! no issures or nothing and you can pick them up new still for 100 i am pretty sure. Maybe sell the Megan and get a Pacesetter?

I know that the older Megan DP's had figment problems but that was a couple years ago. I wonder if you got one of the older ones...
I have also heard that people that run the Evo O2 housings can run into fitment issues. It might not be your DP causing your fitment but the angle off the O2 housing. You could compare the angles by looking at the stock O2, or take off the PR one and try the stocker.
You by chance didn't get a 2G DP did you? Shipping errors have been known to be made...
Before hacking up your piece I would make sure it's the right one...

Always have to get creative with the megan exhaust systems. Get out the cutoff wheel & welder and make that thing fit.
