Mega Squirt

Anyone ever use this? Its for tuning EFI machines like ours. Just wondering if anyone has ever used this system, its looks pretty intricate as far as not providing any base mapping and being so versitile with its options.

Me and my buddy will probably be doing a Mega Squirt on his turbo 95 mx6 real soon. I see you're in Jersey so if you're interested let me know. We're hoping with the Mega Squirt we'll be able to hit the 350-400 whp range. We hit 280whp at 9lbs before things went wrong at 11lbs

( it has the capability's to control EVERYTHING fuel spark, etc etc... and the megasquirt will do that for you, I am in the process of doing one right now with the same person who installed the megasquirt on jim parish's 10 second pick up truck, i will keep you updated on this system)

MS will work fine. you have to mess with the CAS trigger and wire a few things but otherwise you can run speed density and control timing , fuel, IAC, ect ect ect...Its a good system..We have tons of guys here running it....I have the AEM and have seen the MS...Although its not as pretty and cant do EVERYTHING the aem can do, its awesome for the money.

it does both and the new version is supposed to have a 12X12 parameter map.

The original post was about MS, which only does fuel. The poster was advised against this since spark is also kind of important (given that I haven't seen a whole bunch of diesel DSMs lately). Yes, the people who make MS also make versions with ignition control, but those have extra bits in the names and they were not asked about.

Could kpt4321 have mentioned MSnS (etc) in his reply? Sure. But that omission sure doesn't merit the posts between his and mine.

My real advice: get DSMLink.

Not to get on the wisemen on dsmtuners. this is a great place to take in information. not to get petty over feelings hurt on site status.Tthat makes a good site and forum go bad.

For complete correction on the matter. there is only Megasquirt only. MSnS-E the standalone you are refering to is firmware and a as far as the ms box is concerned when you make or buy a ms.....they all have the ability to control spark and fuel as well a slew of other nasty little options as well( all MS execept MS2 which can control spark and fuel aswell just not on our vehicles yet because it onlyhas 1 spark output. unless you do dual VB29sand a ford EDIS) ........ Sure you have to solder a few extra things on the Printed Circuit board. but at 200 bux for a standalone who would care. im currently running a MS1 Version 3 on my first gen laser and currently working with scott clark a.k.a diesel geek for advice on the system and it kicks ass.

I don't know if that was in reference to diesel powered dsms or in reference to diesel geek's MS controlled dsm. I hope it was the later ### I never knew of any diesel mitsu cars ( but wouldn't be surprised if there was) but in reference to diesel geek's cars check out spectre performance's 600 awhp galant running on a MS1 these things can put down numbers like AEM and all the others.

In my opinion it does warrant the posts because to be a wise man to me( and I am sure others) means your like a guiding light. If we are in error send us the right way, If we are misinformed to reinform us, If we are stupid to educate us. In all things DSM of course. For him to make a statment that wasn't neccesarrily true, nor to say "that you dont want this but this"...I mean is well not right. It would have only taken 11 key strokes more to put "but MSnS-E is" right after saying "Megasquirt is a full standalone for fuel only, which is not what you want."

uugh dsmlink well I don't think thats really any advice at all or good.
your basically telling every one to spend 2.5 the cost of 2 to 3 MS stand alones to have just a one dsmlink. God forbid if they don't have an eprom then it cost more. Not real advice if you ask me just pure opinion and typical favoritism to dsmlink.... but I won't lie I liked dsmlink but I can't afford that. so I went MS because it does the same amount of stuff if not more.

any way no beef with the wiseman but I felt yall should hear what I have to say.

Just an fyi Megasquirt is becoming a little bit more accepted on this board. A few of us have proved what it can do. There are plenty of newer threads that you might have missed about this.

ohh i know but i posted that for those that run into this thread inquiring about MS so figured i final post would be nice to totally explain the situation. most people arent like you and i and do their own research on the subject to decide to buy something or not. they just go with the norm.

It would be nice if there was a sectionfor dsm megsquirt users to have thread sdealing with that system and the advancement of MS on dsms. even on msefi its hard to find another dsm user of MS.

I ran MSNS on my 420a eclipse. Loved it. For the money it cant be beat. I have messed with my buddies dsmlink in his 2g and it is much easier to get dsmlink up and running. But I think msns offers more. You are not limited to low impedance injrctors. It works very well with the 4g63 ignitor to control spark. The fuel tables were either 12x12 or 16x16, I cant remember. Great system. I sold mine for more then I paid for it but now with my 1g I might get another one. We will see how far the maft and safc go Check out the MS fourms at www.msefi.com Lots of great reading. And give the wiseman a break. You cant know everything

i do give wiseman lots of slack but that seemed like the post of the wisemen before mine were just uneccesary. thats all its all good there very knowledgeable i give them lots of credit ive bee helped by those two way back when i was 15 and didnt know a damn thing about a dsm. some day i hope to hold that title as well.
