Dose the 4g63 N/T have a knock sensore? if not is there a way to measure knock on these engines.

1-NO
2-install a knock sensor and a turbo ecu and lots of other mods. But why would you do it? Knock doesnt affect a n/t like it does a turbo. EX: n/t, low compression=detonation spots on the plug and at worst, a burnt electrode. Turbo= burnt pistons, broken piston rings, burnt plugs, burnt valves.

Either can suffer from bearing damege but that is very extreme and if you havent modified the ecu or fuel system, its unlikely.

i was thinking about the knock sensore cuzz i was planning on a 150 or 200 shot of nitrous wit the stroker at 8.74:1 comp

If you're serious about it, I'd go with a J&S Safeguard. It would be much easier than trying to integrate the necessary components to get a stock knock sensor to work, and you'd have better features.

im confused on what your saying... are you saying NT's have low compression? cuz they are higher then the turbo model

I looked at the J&S Safeguard at http://www.jandssafeguard.com/ and it seems like it would work but dose it need a knock sensore or dose it come with one?

Hi, I just bought a J&s maybe I can answer a few questions. The Safeguard does not come with a sensor. I sent John a 2G sensor to calibrate my box and I run a 2G sensor without any ECU knock control.

the 2G sensor is tuned to the resonance of the 81 m bore while the 1G just listens for noise. Bottom line the 2g senosr is much more discriminate in detecting knock.

I have only driven the car a few miles since installing the safeguard but it adds and removes timing extremely fast.
