My car's MDP sensor is bad and the P1400 code is showing up, Is it a necessary sensor, or can it be taken off? I heard that it is pointless and also read that it is necessary. My car's symptoms are bogging down under boost, and the CEL. I bought a sensor from someone on here and it looks different than the one on my car, and also has the relocation kit for the firewall. Would it be recomended that someone such as a mechanic would install or is it simple enough for me to do it, never done it before by the way  Thanks!

Well, it's pretty much just for emissions, so you don't need it. Without it , you will throw a light. Yes, you can install it yourself.
Unplug the connector.
Unbolt two bolts.
Pop metal clip.
Remove.

I just changed the sensor out, still same results. I didnt change the whole unit (wires that come off of it, and the bottom part) Will just removing the sensor still make the car bog down under boost? Im ok with the CEL considering its a DSM :ohdamn:

Try disconnecting your battery for a couple of minutes to reset everything, and post back.

Disconnected the battery and put the same sensor back in just to see what would happen with that first. No codes are showing up, but it still stutters under boost, is it possible theres something else causing the bogging under boost? :banghead:

Have you done a BLT? Check/change the spark plugs/spark plug wires.

The MDP sensor will have nothing to do with performance at all. I would suggest if you are removing your MDP sensor you should probably also remove your EGR but it isn't strictly necessary.

Just pulling the MDP sensor should not generally give you a CEL but it can under certain drive conditions. DSMs and many other cars have a diagnostic system which runs different tests under different driving conditions and in the case of the MDP sensor the driving conditions involve situations that would not normally occur driving on the street. This is also an issue for some people who need to pass emissions because some readiness monitors do not set themselves to ready without certain drive cycles.
