Okay right before all the problems I'm going to list, It did have a small exhaust leak from the flex pipe that I noticed before this happened. On the ride home ( 1hr drive) it must have opened up more and the exhaust leak was very noticeable as it was making a put put put put noise and sounded like a diesel car. Then at the red light when I was sitting the rpms would start jumping up and down (300-500rpm increments) on idle like the maf was dirty (My camaro did the same thing and turned out to be a dirty maf). Then it would start bogging randomly down. I would have to hold the pedal down a little just to keep it idling a little so it wouldn't stall.

But when I would get into boost the car would drive 100% perfect and pull all the way with no power loss, but the idle problem will still be there. Also when I shift into any gear or put it in nuetral when driving it would jump up a couple hundred rpms no matter what with my foot off the gas pedal.

Also the brake and battery light went on when the exhaust leak got worse. From what I read thats from the alternator giving out so I will replace the alternator asap.
Could all this be caused from a massive exhaust leak?

My mods for my 95 gsx are:

JM SMIM
1g Tb
Injen cai
2g maf
255 walbro
fuel lab afpr
780cc
NGK 8es .028
B16g @25psi
Apexi Catback
Dsmlink v3

I ordered a new dp, O2 housing, and fp manifold just to upgrade them along with replacing the dp thats causing the exhaust leak.

I will check these when the hurricane passes by but let me know what you guys think the culprit of all these problems are.

ISC
vacuum Leaks
Spark plugs (just put them in a week ago)
Biss screw (put that in a week ago to fix my high idle)

Let me know if theres anything else I should check.

Well from personal experience, fixing the hole in my flex pipe helped my idle problem... It now stays relatively steady. You should also clean your MAF, that helped out on my talon as well. A combination of those two really made a difference.

Surprisingly i also had that problem where it would jump when i put it in nuetral or park (my car is auto...) the two things i just talked about fixed it... At first i thought it was just because my car sat for a year before i got my license, but i was wrong.

I have no idea about your battery though.
Good luck... i hope i helped calm your nerves knowing your not the only one. And good luck with the hurricane.

Thanks Carfree123, Hopefully when the new exhaust goodies arrive and I bolt them on it will eliminate the idle problems. The alternator probably started dying faster on me from the heat of the exhaust from the leak.

I just hope nothing happens to my car with the hurricane passing over us soon.

Not sure if a leak in the flex pipe would affect the alternator... but hey... who knows. :|

And yeah... its starting to get bad here. But i think my baby can handle it. :) <3

Your 95 is OBD-2, with 2 oxygen sensors right? That leak would cause idle issues. Also a leak in flex pipe would add more heat in the area of the alternator, so that could contribute to it going out. But from someone who has replaced his alternator six times since I bought the car in 2003 it don't take much..... I've heard good things about the Saturn alternator mod.

Guys be safe and hold down the hatches in the hurricaine!!
