Ok so I have boost creep and I am looking to get rid of it. Basically my original plan was to get the flapper mod by sending it to slowboy racing... but I wanted to send my manifold with it to get ported. Manifold is a pain.. broke one stud and stripped 2 nuts after that. I gave up trying to get it off and Im going to bring it to a shop to remove it for me. Anyways, Should I just have them take it off then send my turbo and manifold to get ported by slowboy with flapper mod? OR.. I was thinking of getting an External wastegate. Question is.. if I install an external on the manifold is that a permanent thing? IF my manifold cracks can i remove the wastegate and put it on a new manifold?

I have like 300 bucks to spend right now.. so .. if i went with a more expensive option i would have to wait a few more weeks. I really need this done before Nov 24th.

If you were to mount the external wastegate to the manifold it is reversable and both pieces can be reused. You would just have to close off the flange on the manifold and the wastegate is only bolted on so that can be swapped to something else.

so what is this inlet and outlet flange i can get with the external wastegate? I need 2 flanges?

I'm going through the same crap man. I cant get rid of mu creep. I was going to get an O2 dump and the 34mm flapper, and I was goin to install it myself. I've since changed my mind. SlowBoy has a Tial 38mm external wg for only $210. I'll be sending my manifold to them right after Christmas. WG is $210, porting the manifold $40, $25 for flanges, and $70 to mount the WG to the manifold. To answer your question - Yes, you can remove the WG from the manifold if it cracks.

Here's my reasoning........

$200 - O2dump + 34mm flapper + lots of work and it's still no garuntee. Plus I'd have to worry about boost creep when I switch to a diff. turbo down the road.

-OR-

$350 - Extermal 38mm WG - ported manifold - no personal work involved - garunteed to cure my boost creep w/ this turbo and with any other future turbo for me. :thumb:

Typically when you buy the wastegate new you will get the necessary flanges needed for the install. But yes, you will need one flange to weld to the manifold and wastegate will bolt to that flange.

Ok, I took it to a shop and they said it would be 4 hours of labor to remove the manifold and deal with the studs that will potentially break off. damn. So in my head im thinking.. its really not worth my money to have this guy take it off just to port it out a bit. I am just going to pull the turbo and 02 housing myself and send that off to get modified. I am just going to save up some money to buy a new better manifold down the line to install.

Question: can i port the collector of the manifold to 7cm to match the turbo inlet with the manifold still on the car and the turbo removed? I figure I can go buy a die grinder and a bit for it to just port it myself for the time being. Will I be able to get the tool up there to remove that lip with it still on the car?

I got the same problem with boost creep i was thinking obout getting the Bullseye Performance turbine housing with the 38mm wastegate for $220, that's another option if you don't want to go with external.

you do have a point.. i didnt even think about changing the housings.. you might be on to something.
