Hey guys I have two questions actually..

1. Im replacing the manifold gasket that connects to the turbo, and this is going to sound dumb but is it a straight forward as it looks? Just undo the bolts take the manifold off, put the new gasket on, and put the manifold back on? I guess what i'm asking is i dont want something unforseen to happen while doing this, like some thing falling apart on me.

2. And the second question is I heard while replacing these gasket it is best to buy some kind of spray to put on it? Im not sure exactly what kind of spray they are talking about.

Thanks for the help in advance! :dsm: :talon: :laser:

Copper Spray. Kind of like a high temp sealer. Both Gaskets should be able to be changed by just removing the bolts. The Gasket for the Turbo to manifold you will probably need someone to hold the turbo because it is a PITA to hold the Turbo and get the Gasket where it needs to be. As for where the exhaust mani bolts to the head, I have done that by just pulling the bolts, sliding the mani out, and putting the new gasket on. To leave the turbo on for that you may need to remove the radiator if you don't have enough space.(4 bolts is all that holds it on)

for the gasket between the turbo and manifold, I was able to just slide the gasket inbetween the turbo and manifold by myself.

Maybe 5 minutes tops if all 4 of your bolts are the same, 14mm head on the bolt.

for the manifold to head gasket, it will take a lil longer, as you have to reach under the manifold to get a nut thats on a stud in the middle of the manifold.

Now would be a good time to get some stainless steel exhaust manfold studs like I did when I changed my manifold-head gasket.

just a suggestion.

get new bolts before you start....If you dont then your old bolts will break for sure(funny how that works).use anti-sieze on the bolts when you assemble.

Like he said new bolts and anti-sieze but remember guys he is a 2g there is a stud on one so he cannot just pull the bolts and slid the old one out and then new one back in he would have to get that stud out to do that. its just as east to drop the turbo off and then pull nuts from studs on head and take off the mani. all together.

suggestion i would replace that stud with a bolt just order them from you local MIT's shop. they are all the same bolt.
good luck. :dsm:
