Making a new boost gauge pod

I thought I'd give this a whirl seeing as I had a spare interior trim pice for the mirror cover and I didnt like the ugly vent mounting. So far its just roughed in. I used PVC for the pod part. I still need to do some fiberglassing on it and painting. The hardest part was trying to run the line through the door with the wiring harness. But hey it works! And its in a visable spot too. Sorry for the crappy pics, this camera sucks, I'll take better ones when I can.

That looks kinda cool in the vents old spot, but isnt it weird looking down there while your driving when you want to see what your boost is at?

Not really. I'm already use to it I guess.

hey everyone, i'm new to dsmtuners and i was curious if anyone had ever fiberglassed a boost gauge into the ashtray of their 2g for a more inconspicuous look. this took me about 31/2hrs this afternoon. i painted it a shade too dark, whoops...anyways, let me know what you think. thanks

i like that spot never thought of putting one there and it fixes the whole broken ash tray delima.... i was looking around a while ago and i honestly think theres a touch up paint called mitsu gray which should help with your to dark of a shade problem

Agreed, the PO of my car had the SAFC mounted there and it was not a great spot.

Major props to your fiberglass skills though. I still need to find a project for me to do something like that.

thanks for the comments guys. i know it isn't the greatest spot for a boost gauge. but i needed to fix the busted ashtray. and i only have the gauge so i can make sure i don't have any leaks and such. not too worried about watching it all the time. thanks for the info on the paint, too. i'll have to check it out
