OK im looking to make my car go as fast as possable without a turbo but, first i want to tune it up. This car has been stock its hole life and probly never had anything changed on it im looking to replace it all with new parts that would need to be changed for the age reason like hoses etc. but, i have no clue where to start. I tried serching in the trends but i never find what im looking for! Maybe some one could point me in the right direction of where to get started. What all i should do! I know the basics like headders, cold air intake, cat back but this thing is old!!!! so before i start putting power in it i want to know what all i should replace? Thanks and sorry if this is answered all over the place im haveing a hard time finding what im looking for probly because i dont really know what exactly what i should be searching for...
My car is a 90 eclipse gs n/t fwd

Most people are going to tell you save up money for a turbo model DSM. The are many reasons to do this, but two of them stick out in my opinion: 1. There is not a large parts or tuning following for the 1g base model engine. It is going to be hard to get very much more power from that engine without nitrous or other significant modifications. 2. Turbo DSM's are cheap and easy to come by. Heck, find one that snapped the timing belt and rebuild it while driving your reliable base model. I started out my DSM life with a non turbo 2 liter engine. If I knew then what I know now, I would have not modded that car at all, I would have saved my money and had a very nice DSM project by now, but instead I went for instant gratification and wasted many hours and dollars on what ended up being junk. Do it right the first time and be happy in the end.

ok im not trying to get the turbo car im trying to make this car a show car this doesnt answer what i was talking about!! I have already read and stated about the headers etc. in the tech guide. It also tells me to get a turbo which i dont want. I want to maxamize this one if that was the case i would just go get a 3000 gt vr4 for 4 grand up the block and start with 320 hp @ 6000 rpm and torque of 315 ft-lbs @ 2500 rpm instead of 195 hp @ 6000 rpm and torque of 203 ft-lbs @ 3000 rpm! would some one please help me with what i wanted instead of directing me to the turbo....

well do the normal full tune up then slap some high compression pistons in it, and if anyone tells you high compression pistons don't do anything thier wrong. in a non-turbo car high compression pistons make up for not having a turbo it may not be as good as a turbo, but you'll feel it.

My mistake, I misread you, I thought you were saying you wanted to turbo it..... Slap on a blingin chrome intake, some blingin chrome headers, get your valve cover blinged in chrome, then insert some bangin high CR pistons. Oh yeah, get a blingin chrome exhaust and muffler. Other than that stuff, only nitrous is gonna help you get that thing to move anywhere.

If you cant figure out how to do routine matinence on your car how are you gonna make it into a show car? Get a haynes manual.

If you want your car as fast as possible without some sort of forced induction. I would say go all motor...Get some high compression pistons say 11:1, decent rods, balance crank maybe even knive edge it, port and polish head, upgrade vavletrain components, get some lumpy cams(high lift, duration), individual throttle bodies (might have to custom fab one), equal length headers, 8lb flywheel, gut the interior, oh yeah get a decent fuel management system to bump your redline up and properly tune it. It should get u say 200ish whp easily i guess.
