So after doing suspension work and a few oil changes I think its time to attack the engine bay. Is it wise to flush the tranny fluid? I dont know when it was last done. Will doing so make shifting smoother ? I live In Alberta Canada. But I have an Hope, Idaho adress in the States. Is there a provider I can get dsm parts in Canada without paying huge shipping fees ? I have been reading a lot into maintenance. The spark wires were done 6000 miles ago. Plugs not sure when. Timing Belt change on the car is unknown. I am the third owner cant find the first one. If I call mitsubishi in the states will I be able to get records ? Thanks in advance.

The car most likely won't have many records from the dealer. Maybe early in its life but past 2001 or so I doubt it.
It would be smart to change the timing belt and components while covers off. Maybe even water pump being that it's only 40 or so dollars. Transmission fluid change it doesn't ever hurt and it's cheap... anyways 2-300$ total spent for peace of mind is not a bad price to pay. Make sure to change bs belt too. New fluid absolutely may help with shifting depending on how bad it is. (Assuming the clutch components are not the cause.)

Also buy oe parts.

Don't know about parts in Canada... parts have always been a bit expensive from shops up there. You maybe better buying in the state's from extreme psi or modern automotive performance.

www.rtmracing.com <-- I believe they are based out of Ontario. They sell a lot of OEM parts. As far as shipping is concerned I'm not sure if you would be saving money by going with them but it's worth a look.

Well I appreciate all the input. trying to do stuff on this car is a nightmare if you listen to people who have no clue regarding this platform. It would be nice if this works. Checking all the websites you guys suggested. There is a lot of things ai wanna do. but winter and -20 temperatures and lower dont help. But I can still do research read guides and get ready for summer tinkering. even my heated garage wont go over 20 c this winter. edit : Holy moly 4 spark plugs 12 $! Amazon wanted like 60$ with shipping

Understand too well whats you are saying, I know barely NOBODY that know this kind of car in my area. Even the chrysler dealer where i originaly bought it, is useless.
When i go to the drag, I'm the only one, when i go to lapping: i'm the only one, And when i'm in the street, i'm the only one. But I feel so unique.
Good chance with your build, and don't forget that the searching bar in dsmtuners is your best friend.

Yes I should use that search bar a lot from now on. I feel my car isnt gonna be the my best dsm. It has so much work to be done to the structure it might not be worth the time or money some people say so. But the joy and the knowledge I have acquired so far makes me think that maybe just maybe in the end it will all be worth it. After looking at my car and then trying to work on my sisters 2007 Engine bay I couldnt stop laughing at the simplicity of the honda civic. So simple. Feeling alone yes. But this is the world we live in. If you want to have something special in life the path is hard. At least till you learn how to walk.

Dont flush the transmission
Just remove the drain bolt ,drain it.
Remove the pan replace filter and put a new pan gasket on 40 min job

Drain coolent and refill with new coolent use a tester so u know it wont freeze

Check your break fluid out and look for leaks change pads and rotors if needed

Look at all your belts includeing the timing belt!
Timing belt should be your number one priority

Check your charging system out and replace your battery if its crapy or really old

I bought a 980cca for winters here in winnipeg and i have never had any issues
Inspect battery terminals as well

Charging system do you mean the alternator? The battery is not good. I think it has to be replaced. And I think I might need new cables or at least the ends of the cables that connect to the battery.
