I'm having trouble with my Maft setup. I installed it today and set up the injectors the way they asked but from there i haven't a clue what to do since my log readings are messed up!! I'm using the TechnoMotive and logging on my lap top and using my SAFC-1. I have a crappy running car at this point and i'm not sure what to do about the Maft. all i want to do is run the maf and tune with my SAFC but i cant' figure out how!!!

I didn't get any instructions with it. i got it used go figure, but i was zero'ing the maft out was bad or didn't work. Were do you find the instructions on the zero'ing and tuning with the SAFC? Because Fullthrottlespeed.com doesn't have ANYTHING on how to tune with your SAFC and Maft!!!

A good thing to mention is i was originally setup under a 2g Maf, so i called Fullthrottle and the tech explained to me this:

1. set up your injectors as a 2g 500-550cc since thats what you originally tuned for
2. reset your SAFC and RE-TUNE since you now added a new piece of equipment in the mix
3.leave all other switches ALONE just the AUX and MODE for your injector size are set in place after that its all on the SAFC

The one thing i forgot to ask him was am i running this as RPM or MAF mode? :-(

car runs and is drive able just giving it 30-50% throttle it gets boggy! the throttlespeed tech believe is has something to so with me setting up under a 1g 550cc injector rather the 550cc 2g setup that i originally was tuned for while using my 2g maf. I have yes tuned using my SAFC. my fuel trims were reading 140% low trim and my high and mid were 100% but as i would give it 30-50% throttle to get into 2 gear it would gargle or bog.

So you didnt change anything on the S-AFC when you change fromm a 2g maf to the gm maft? Because you will need to do some adjusting of the fuel since you changed to a different maf. Try adjusting your safc so your low fuel trim gets back into the 100's. Its most likely in the 140's (lean) because the bigger size of the gm maft compared to the 2g maf u had before.

LOL well then my low trims are gonna be huge!! they are already at +35% and up all the way across on the safc. and no i just left the 2g maf tune on the SAFC and thought it would be ok but sounds like no! and the signal i'm getting is for a 1g and it's not a good signal says the full throttle guy! so if i change it from a 1g 550cc injector to a 2g 550cc injector he said it will be dang close to dead on! :)

yes on the SAFC and you get a different signal on a 1g STOCK maf verses a 2G maf. and when you set your Translator up you have to set your injector size to your vehicle... i.e for 1g 550cc on the translator is AUX=0 Base= C on a 2g you would use, Aux=4 Base= C.

Ahhh I figured out why I'm confused. I still use the older 1.3version, so I assuming yours is the newer 2.XX. Sorry about that.

Ok lets start over then since I was looking at my old 1.3 version manual. Where are your AUX and Base set at now? AUX=0 Base=2?

Ok well if you have your maft set for 550's then you can zero out your S-AFC. But personally I feel its a lot easier to let the S-AFC do all the compensation.

So as said in my pm, zero out the maft buy running the stock 450cc settings (AUX=0 Base=2). Then set your Low S-AFC to -18% which should be a close settings for the 550's you have. Once you do that let us know how your fuel trims look. If you set it up this way your maft wont be making any corrections, in which the S-AFC will be doing it all.

^ dido... I chatted with a Fullthrottlespeed.com tech yesterday and we found this:
1. I was originally running a 2g maf on a 1g talon
2. This means i needed to set up my maf as though it were going on a 2g, so in other words my injectors are 550cc on a 1g you would set the translator to, AUX-0 Base-C and a 2g you set it to AUX-0 Base-4. i was setup under the 1g style when i need the 2g setup.. i did this the moment i was done with work yesterday and of course the car ran like a freaking dream!! :)
3. NOW i just leave the rest up to my SAFC and i only touched the IDLE knob because my O2 volts were dang near zero and in the trans manual it states to adjust accordingly to acquire a signal.

Killa, i'm still getting 140 on my low trims but i think it's because i have the idle knob 2 clicks right to richen the idle to get a signal out of my O2 but i may try and click it back down and tune with the afc.. see what that does.... i wanna post my log but i don't know how to do that on here?

Ahh I see, so you just want to keep the old settings from your S-AFC? I had the thought that you wanted to set it up for using to the 1g settings and retune with the S-AFC. But yeah, just switching to the 2g settings would have been easier then having to re-tune everything since you already had it tuned for the 2g maf. :p

Well at least its running better then before! :thumb:
