I installed my MAFT blow-through setup up from dejontool.com and used there supplied radiator hose looking couplers and the GM MAS to throttle body coupler keeps blowing off! Would this thing be ok if I just bought a silicone coupler and tighted it down?

Wow thats weird, I've had mine on for over a year and it has never even moved. Still using the Dejon radiator couplers. Did he forget to bead the pipe or something?

you have the upper intercooler pipe from dejon and they beaded the pipe were the sensor meet the piping? if not head to a muffler shop and get it beaded around the edge of piping. make sure the coupler are 3" in ID and bottle neck down to what ever OD the piping is. t-bolt clamps or constant torque clamps will help a little.

MADSPEED, if the coupler is blowing off the MAF, just use two normal clamps side to side. That's what I did (there's enough space on the MAF). If the problem is the pipe after the MAF, do what the previous guys suggested. With a bead, you should'nt have any problems at all, even with one cheap clamp.

You can double clamp it...get real silicone couplers...or use JBWeld and make a small bead..

Honestly...I can't stand the crap that Dejon sends with his products. I bit the bullet and spent $20 on good silicone couplers throughout and I don't have double clamps or anything...no problems anymore...

Exactly. The tubes are nice but the hardware sucks. Radiator hose and worm gear clamps are not the same as silicone and t-bolt clamps.
I think if David used a heavier flange and real hardware, no one would ever have a complaint.

I use T-bolt clamps with no beaded pipes and I have never blown a coupler off. Get T-bolt clamps!

This is what a t-bolt clamp is, If you never seen them. Like I said before, They will crush the pipe before you break them. Your piping will NEVER blow off.

I also have to agree the dejon coupling on my intake tube is total cheap crap.He should just sell his products with real silicone couplers.I might have ordered a upper pipe from him but know his couplers and clamps are crap so forget it.
I am a bit unsure on what size t bolt to get they seem to come in confusing sizes.
For example just bought a 3 inch silicone to replace my dejon coupler.Do I need exactly 3 inch t bolt or 3.25 or what if you guys know what I mean.I guess I can buy some and bring them back if they don't work there are a couple places that actually sell t bolt clamps near me.

I like my Dejn upper pipe designed for the GM MAF. It fits great and Dave's couplers work fine in that application. Ask Jim for help with slicone couplers, reducers and advice on T-bolts at www.hightempsilicone.com

Guys i'm having trouble, i bought some couplers and the ID on one side is 3" and well then reduces to 2.25" But is basically impossible to put this coupler on the 3" MAF, are there different couplers, maybe some stretch and some dont? Thanks

Yeah, it's called a little grease and some strength. It will fit fine, but I think SBR sells 3.25 to 2.25 reducers if you really want to waste some money.

You might try heating some ater in a microwave and setting the 3"end of the reducer in for a couple minutes and see if it expands a bit. Mark
PS: Don't melt it!

I found that boostcontroller.com had about the best selection and price on reducers. Definitely get 3.25 to connect to a MAF. Silicone couplers are designed NOT to stretch.

Of course they are designed to strech and flex. Plus, we're not talking about trying to fit a 3" coupler around a 3.5" opening here...

Flex, yes. Stretch, no.

Silicone hose, for this type of application, is fabricated with multiple layers of reinforcing fabric, typically fiberglass or nomex aramid. Fiberglass and arimid are selected for their strength, heat resistance and low percentage of elongation properties (less than 5%).

This means that one might be able to stretch a 3” hose to about 3.15.” To get it to a 3.25” diameter, requires displacing the silicone lining (not so bad) or tearing the fabric reinforcement (bad, but not likely, it’s tough).

All this means yes, you can stretch a 3” hose to 3.25,” but it ain’t easy. Buy 3.25.

wret's GM MAS setup is very nice and clean! still trying to figure out how he made his LICP tho...but dude knows his stuff:thumb:

saw it at the GMU meet a few weeks back...hoping he will help me with mine ;) :D

make sure your OD is 3.2 inch not 3.5 inch. if its 3.2 inch OD your ID should be 3.0. if its 3.5 OD the ID should be 3.2
