MAF Translator messed up

i have a 1992 Eagle talon Tsi AWD and can someone tell me what my maf translator should be set at its a first Gen maft. Becuz black smoke keeps pouring out and it smells aweful and i tried setting it and the red light came on and stayed on and now my check engine lights on. can someone please help me../...

Since the CEL came on just after installing the translator it sounds like something was pooched. Not necessacarially the translator but it could be the install, or something else. Just read of the manual CAREFULLY and ensure a correct install, then register at fullthrottletech.com and search for the same sypmtoms or even post at that site since they are the one who made the device. Might want to read sheet 5 step 8 of the 1.3 version manual about mating the connectors correctly.
