Installing MAFT 2.01 version with a 3" Gm MAF< blow through setup on my 1991 Talon TURBO, I already had a SAFC< so I plan to tune with the SAFC, how do i setup the MAF, so I can tune with SAFC< anyone have any initiall settings, I can go by?

Thanks, Clayton

Clayton,

Did you get the install and setup manual with the Translator? If so, install it following the instructions, then set the translator for the injectors you have and the GM mas you have.

Make sure you have a logger, because tuning by the seat of your pants won't cut it. Write down your SAFC settings that the car was tuned for before the MAFT install. Now Zero out your SAFC and take the car for a drive and log your fuel trims to see if any MAFT setting need to be adjusted first. The MAFT should have knobs for low, mid and WOT. You'll need to get the low and mid trims settled before trying WOT tuning. Once that is done it's time for a few WOT pulls.

Set your logger to log rpm, ijpw, O2v, knock. Try a 3rd gear pull and watch for knock. If you see knock start around 4500rpm and up turn up the MAFT WOT knob one click to add a little more fuel. Try another pull and log it. See what happens. Repeat as needed.

Once you have the basic tune set with the MAFT. Now you can fine tune with the SAFC in the car.

Hope this helps you out. I did my tuning this way with my MAFT old ver 1.3, then fine tuned with my SAFC. My car ran well the when I upgraded to a DSMchip Eprom ECU it needed to be tuned again but runs even better now...

Thanks, for the info, but I dont want to tune with the MAFT at all, just put it in, and use SAFC for all tuning, what I wanted to know, is I just leave the MAFT settings on 0, I have a Palm logger for data analysis.

Thanks, CLayton

I agree with Gix, some tuning needs to be done with the MAFT. Even if it's just to get the car to idle properly. You can tune the rest with the SAFC after that. Im waiting for the bugs to get worked out of DSMlink for 1g then I'll be upgrading to that as well..
