You know, this thread was on my to-do list for YEARS. Never got around to it though LOL

You sold your car? I remember I sold you those pos 2ga headlights and you transformed them..LOL

I actually forgot about this thread I guess, but my buddy just called me while at Home Depot buying carpet cleaner; he's about to do his carpet in his new Spyder and wanted to know which cleaners to get. I'm glad alot of people actually did this and saved money by putting in the work. :)

talking about interior does anymone have a grey leather driver seat that they would kindly sell to me =}

So is mostly everyone soaking in simple green? Or what are you using? And the simple green doesnt fade the color at all does it? Id like to clean mine without having to spray paint it.

Yea, thats what I was going to ask to. Simple green does have a weird smell to it. What should I soak it in then?

Today I got the carpet out and bought some rubbermaid heavy duty spray on carpet cleaner. I scrubbed out all the major spots, but it didnt seem to work that well. Got the power washer and it took most of the spots out, but theres still some spots left.

Im debating what i should do. Id like to soak it in something besides simple green. My dad said not to use anything with alot of soap or anything strong since the carpet isnt that tough. And not to use anything with bleach.

So what should i try soaking it in?

Sorry to bring this back from the dead but it's better than another thread aboutit.

Has anyone successfully died and or painted grey carpet into tan carpet (tan is why my car came with) but it's got house paint in it, and is from a convertable since i grabbed it free frommy old work and didn't notice until my OEM stuff was gone)

now i have good grey stuff but i was going to go black and feel it won't look right, i'd love tan if it's possible, please any info is a great help

That Duplicolor Fabric/Vinyl Paint will not "smear, run, or whatever." It works great, especially in a 'spot treatment' application.

Well, I just ordered some new seats to replace the crapbay seats I currently have (the same ones posted earlier in this thread), and yesterday I pulled the carpet out to go ahead with the transformation of 1) cleaning the carpet, and 2) changing the color from gray to black (to match the 2 tone interior paintjob I did late last summer.

Currently my carpet is sitting in a bucket full of soapy water and "Oil Eaters" carpet shampoo. First I pressure washed the entire carpet to knock the "big stuff" out and then I started to let it soak. If I had started this project on Saturday I would've let the carpet soak for the 24 hour period, but since I won't have a chance to work on this again until next Saturday, my carpets will be soaking for almost an entire week.

Once they're dry, I'm going to proceed with the Duplicolor painting process, but will change the color to black.
let me know how this goes i have gray carpets but im wanting to change to black too so it can match my black and red interior.
Just thought I'd make a post to try and bring this thread back up since I know a lot of people are going to be doing they're own special kind of DSM "Spring Cleaning" and this would be a good read right about now. It's so easy and SO cheap to do.
le tme know how this goes i want to change mine to black so it can match my red/black interior

good news the re-dye worked to some degree. Really need to brush the carpet to avoid "crunchiness"

I am definitely going to try this. I have the black and tan interior in my GSX and I think the carpet being black would help the beautiful tan leather stand out more.

yeah that would look nice, i never was really a fan of tan carpets (plus stains show up more often). Duplicolor makes a good black dye. And if you want some sweet black floor mats to go along with them then try this site.

WOW Im amazed at how well that worked for you! Dang that carpet was dirty along with the water LOL, glad all turned out well.

I never noticed anything fading after using the simple green, my carpet was so dirty back then that I just wanted it to look new without dropping cash on a replacement. I never really noticed the simple green smell after a few days and with air freshener in the car I wasn't smelling anything else.

Btw thanks for the compliments guys, that car has been sold for a few years and now has a stripped interior and running 9's by the current owner.
