Made My Carpet Look New Again!!

I ended up doing this with one of my cars but skipped the actual cleaning process and just threw the carpet in the trash after finding a seal had leaked and the underside was nothing but black mold.

How does that fabric paint hold up after a bit of wear? Any long term users of it?

Before cleaning carpet look so dirty and i think you should replace it with new one. But in next pic you washed it and it looks brand new this makes me more crazy to know more about these products. I hope you don't take any help from commercial cleaning company for cleaning it. Now i decided to cleaning my jeep carpets also...Thanks to inspire me!!

I was going to clean and try to dye mine black but then I cheated and spent $100 on new black carpet...

The new carpet is a thicker pile than stock. Turned out pretty nice.

Nice! I know this was absolutely ages ago, but how did you get all black trim? Was that an option for your car, or did you order or paint the pieces?

In case he doesn't reply...

An all black interior as pictured was never an option from the factory. The poster likely pulled apart his grey or tan interior pieces and painted them with a plastic interior paint. That's why they shine so much.

184.95 wonder how close they r to the original

there are cheaper ones on ebay, i found one for $140 in black,

That's the one of the things I hate about ebay if you don't Look around you might miss the same item for less but take too long and the item u decided too keep tabs on has a bigger price tag when your ready to purchase

Yea u always gotta check. Take the extra 10 mins and check amazon for the same thing. That what I always do because I am huge cheap skate

What do you guys think is the best color combo for the interior of a 2g?

I have the all grey interior and I would like to make it a little more visually apealing.

I have the grey carpets but they're really dirty and I was going to wash them and paint them black using this method.

I've tried the spray can stuff for carpets in the past. It looks good for a while, but will eventually start fading. I'm pretty adamant about doing things the right way/following product manufacturer usage instructions, but I'm also pretty rough on the things I own so maybe that has something to do with it. Using the carpet spray dye crap, mine didnt turn out as nice as I expected it would. There were a few streaks if you looked close from the spray patterns initially, but that was brushed out easily. About 6 months later, the grey color started showing back up on my drivers side floor. I was kinda pissed cause I did enough coats to where I thought that wouldnt ever be a problem. The other thing I didnt like is that it makes the carpet kinda stiff like you've spilled something on it.

A few years ago, I ripped it back out to use clothing dye on it. I sprayed it down, soaked with carpet cleaner, rinsed, then took it to the car wash and sprayed it until the water ran clean. That probably took 15 mins in the wash bay, but it came out spotless. Next, I got one of those big plastic storage bins, filled it halfway with hot water directly from my water heater I had turned up a few hours prior, then dumped in 6-7 bottles of the liquid Rit dye. I mixed it around a little, folded the carpet up so it would fit, submerged it, and dropped a couple of old camshafts(clean) to keep it fully submerged. I then stuck the lid on it and let it soak for about 6 hours. After pulling it out and hanging it from the ceiling to drip dry, I gave it a rinse and let it dry.

Over 3 years later, it still looks like the day I dyed it and actually looks like it came black from the factory. The best thing about doing your carpet black is that its pretty hard to stain it. Go with the fabric dye and you'll be pleased with the results.
